Book Description

Maggie McGill Mystery # 5

If Allie McGill had dreamed that the holiday cruise on the MV Pelican, the floating campus student cruise ship, would develop into such an extraordinary series of adventures, she would not have gone and she never, ever would have taken her mother.

As it was, however, she and her mother, Maggie, are pitched into an amazing adventure. The lovely, relaxed cruise becomes both a riddle and a grave danger. Before they know it, Maggie and Allie are in the middle of a developing mystery of a missing person, a ruthless criminal and two mysterious deaths. Why have they been targeted as a special threat to the arch criminal?

On board the ship Maggie and Allie meet an extraordinary cast of characters and friendships develop as the ship sails on along the coast of Central America and through the Panama Canal. Who is the mysterious soft-spoken holy man and what is his role in the mysteries? Has Allie finally met "the one?" A shipboard romance develops as Allie and Maggie struggle to unravel the many threads of this complex mystery.

Editorial Reviews

Review

On a 3-week cruise to Central America and through the Panama Canal Maggie and Allie . . . become involved in an intricate mystery that threatens their very lives.
I love the descriptions of the cruise ship and the various ports-of-call . . . delightful descriptions of both the food and the surroundings . . . a delightful story. The undercurrent running through the story, as in all of the books, is the very close, loving bond between mother and daughter. I recommend this clean read.

5.0 out of 5 stars STARTS SLOW THEN JUST COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN March 2, 2013

My wife enjoyed this book and would recommend it to women who really like a good mystery but don't like being shocked in the middle of a good plot with vulgarity. Sharon's books are similar to the popular "Murder she Wrote" mysteries by Donald Bain. Have read all her books and really look forward to her next one.

More About the Author

Sharon Burch Toner is the author of the Maggie McGill Mysteries, a series of lighthearted mystery adventures featuring a mother/daughter team, Maggie and Allie McGill. The two strong, independent, and resourceful women romp through their mysterious and frightening adventures with grace and an enduring joie de vivre that serves them and the reader well.

She has cherished memories of long summer afternoons on a farmhouse porch as her Irish grandmother wove fascinating tales of the long ago world of her own childhood, giving Sharon an appreciation for a story well told. Her love affair with books began at age six when she discovered the public library in her small town. From that young age, she proceeded to devour any printed material that crossed her path.

After a life as mother, psychotherapist and spiritual explorer, writing is her retirement occupation. She says that for her writing is as necessary as food and shelter. "Writing is what I do and I love it."

Sharon Burch Toner writes a book a year. The just completed seventh book of the series, Maggie in White, is now available in both print and Kindle editions. Work on the next Maggie book, due out late 2015, will begin in January.

She lives with her two feline roommates in southern California.
