Book Description

December 1, 1998
A WOMAN’S WISH...Maggie Thorne and her daughter Holly want the same thing for Christmas: the return of Holly’s father, a man who left Maggie alone and pregnant seven years ago, with a promise to return. This year they might get their wish; Maggie’s hired a Texas ranger to find Rafe Hollister and bring him home for Christmas.
It didn’t take Matt Weston long to find his quarry and nail him for a scoundrel who no more deserved Maggie’s devotion than he did a second chance. But it’s Rafe Maggie wants and no matter how desperately Matt would like to claim her for his own, it’s Rafe she’ll get—after Matt’s made an honest man out of him.
A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE TO LAST A LIFETIME...true to his pledge, Matt does his best to turn this deadbeat father into something decent for Maggie and Holly, while secretly hoping that Rafe will fail to win Maggie’s heart. What Matt doesn’t know is that Maggie shares his desire. For how can she explain to the man working so hard to make her ‘almost’ husband presentable that she has fallen impossibly in love with him—and only him.

Review

For the past seven years, Maggie Hollister has faced Christmas alone with her daughter, Holly, and ever since Holly was old enough to ask for a present from Santa, she has wanted a daddy. This time, Maggie is going to fulfill her daughter's wish. She hires a Texas Ranger to find her daughter's father. Matt Weston is a pro when it comes to tracking people. Yet he never imagined the personal stake he would have in this search. The more time he spends with Maggie, the more confused he gets. And when he locates Rafe Hollister, he realizes that this is one wish that he would rather Maggie forget. Take a reluctant father with deplorable manners, add his saloon girlfriend, and there's more than enough to cause trouble in the Hollister household. Will Matt stay and explore his feelings for Maggie in hopes that she will feel the same way? Or will he consider his job done and allow Maggie's wish to come true? Ms. Ihle has done an admirable job in combining just the right dose of humor and steam to make this an enjoyable read. The characters are believable and easily capture our hearts. Creating the secondary storyline between Rafe and his saloon girlfriend adds a whole new element to the book. The reader is left feeling that all the loose ends have been neatly tied. Remarkable details -- I spent several minutes wiping my eyes after Matt and Rafe had their 'education' sessions in the cabin. This was a western romance packed full of flavor! 5.0 out of 5 stars Has all the makings of a Christmas classic!, November 6, 1998

Need an escape from the holiday hustle and bustle? Or maybe you need a dash of Christmas spirit to get you going? Sharon Ihle's MAGGIE'S WISH will turn your Christmas cares into Christmas carols. Set in 1881, Prescott, Arizona; this Wild West romance has more twists and turns than a candy cane, but it is definitely as sweet.

Maggie Thorne wants to make her daughter Holly's yearly Christmas wish come true-- bring her Daddy home for Christmas. Unfortunately, "Daddy" comes in the form of the ne'er-do-well Rafe Hollister, the man who abandoned the pregnant Maggie seven years before. Maggie hires ex-Texas Ranger Matt Weston to track Rafe down. The twists and turns begin when Matt and Maggie fall in love. Neither of them can admit to their feelings or else little Holly's Christmas wish won't come true.

Matt decides to make Rafe into a man worthy of Maggie's love. Even if it means breaking his heart--and his bank account. If this wasn't enough to drive a Texas Ranger crazy, Rafe's current girlfriend shows up to complicate the situation. It's a comedy of errors all around with poor Matt trying his best to hang on to his sanity and poor Maggie trying to figure out if she should follow her head or her heart.

These characters will tickle your funny bone while their love story will surely warm your heart. With all the makings of a Christmas classic, MAGGIE'S WISH should be on every romance lover's holiday wish list.
