5.0 out of 5 stars Heart warming... exciting too.
This is the first book I've read by Karen Robards. My friend lend me this book and as soon as I was finished, I had to get one copy for myself. I reread it twice and still had the same reaction. This is definitely in one of my favorite book collection. I was specially touched by the unique closeness of Nick and Maggy. The strong bond that started way back when they...

3.0 out of 5 stars Page turner, but...
I read this book in a day and 1/2, so it was a page turner. There were areas of the book I could not fathom and they were expressed by other reviewers, but ...by textbook, this is like "battered wife syndrome". She felt she had no hope, resources, and her son loved Lyle, so she probably felt she had to stay in the relationship. That is until her "twin soul" came to her...

The strong bond that started way back when they were young are impressive and heart quenching. My heart ached reading about their past together, though. About the poor times! Lack of food & clothes... Yet, Nick tried to take care of her and provided for her then - in any way and any means he can. The action twist is exciting and unexpected. It adds spice to the story. Maggy's choice to sacrifice love for his son's future is depressingly sad. Some parts are tear jerker but it leaves you contented in the end. It is a warm & happy ending.

This is not Robards' best but it was still an exciting read--and very hot! The chase scenes were riveting!

5.0 out of 5 stars Maggie's Child, May 27, 2000
This review is from: Maggy's Child (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! If you love to desire love and excitement, this book is for you! Karen did a fabulous job of engaging the reader into the intricacy of the relationships and adventures that take place in Maggie's Child. This book was difficult to put down because you simply need to know what's going to happen next, epecially between Maggie and Nick. Karen's vocabulary and descriptions are rich and colorful, which makes the plots and characters come to life. I passed this book onto my mother, who NEVER reads, and she read six chapters in one night and wants to buy all Karen's books. We agree that a night reading about Nick and Maggie is far better than a night watching tv. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of my Favs, August 30, 2011
Some of the reviews are pretty harsh and some are inacurrate. I personally loved this book and would love a man like Nick King to take me away from my life. One of my favourites from Karen Robards and definitely for me, a page turner.

3.0 out of 5 stars Page turner, but..., September 11, 2010
This review is from: Maggy's Child (Paperback)
I read this book in a day and 1/2, so it was a page turner. There were areas of the book I could not fathom and they were expressed by other reviewers, but ...by textbook, this is like "battered wife syndrome". She felt she had no hope, resources, and her son loved Lyle, so she probably felt she had to stay in the relationship. That is until her "twin soul" came to her aid. It was a good book, but I still could only give it 3 stars

This books is so wonderful! I just finished it and I could turn around and re-read the whole book all over again immediately. Karen Robards is one heck of a story teller. To be loved so much by one man - oh the passion! I loved this book - I can dream can't I! And normally, I am just a suspense only girl! Read it!!!! You'll love it as I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK!, November 14, 2008
This review is from: Maggy's Child (Paperback)
This was my first book that I read by this author and I'll definitely be looking for her name, again. Its' a great story with loveable characters. Each time the story started to even out, something happened, taking you off guard. The book was well written, packed filled with great lines. Love Nick and his dedicated love for Maggy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing love triangle, November 30, 2006
By
This review is from: Maggy's Child (Paperback)
When she deemed longtime love Nick King unsuitable for fatherhood, Maggy Garcia made a pact with the devil incarnate and married wealthy Lyle Forrest. To outsiders, they are the perfect family; but Maggy lives in constant fear, as Lyle continually abuses her and she fears his influence over her son David.

When Nick returns, he is now the well-to-do proprietor of a Louisville night club and carries plenty of secrets regarding his past. When he declares that he has never stopped loving Maggy, she is torn between the desire for the only man she loved and the child he knows nothing about. He figures the only way to be with Maggy is to get plenty of dirt on Lyle, who will stop at nothing to keep Maggy in their loveless marriage.

Despite the long and drawn out secret from Nick's past (that was not that hard to predict), Robards has created an intriguing love triangle, with a very derange man in one corner and star crossed loves occupying the rest. The chemistry between Maggy and Nick is scorching; and you will love to hate the unredeemable Lyle.

2.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but..., April 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Maggy's Child (Hardcover)
... highly predictable, to say the least. The story may sound familiar: damsel in distress, too good to be true good guy, psychotic bad guy. Guess how it ends! Need I say any more?
