I had to patch the catalytic converter on my 1993 Crown Vic and this product did the job! It hardens up over night and appears to be tougher than kryptonite! You will need to wrap something around the patch area to hold the Thermosteel in place until it dries overnight but then it is super tough and very very heat resistant. Thanks Thermosteel!

Beware! This product seemed to work well at first (nice and hard when dry), however as soon as water got on the product it disolved immediately and was washed away. No where on the product label did it mention not being able to handle water or moisture.

This product is not water proof. Tried to repair crack in outside stove and let it harden on garage for 7 days and when filled the product dissolved.

I have a metal firebox in my fireplace that developed a 1/4 inch crack. This product worked wonderful to repair. We have had 4 very hot fires thus fare and it has held up great.

I used this product on a cracked manifold, and unfortunately I was disappointed in the results. I followed the instructions and gave the product significant time to cure. It bonded well to the manifold, but a week later I noticed a crack had developed on the ThermoSteel. I think this product might work well on an exhaust pipe, but not on an area that has pressure.

Used this to finally patch and attach my Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker pan handle that needs replacing every year or so.. (see my post on that) I wrapped it in wire mesh, installed a stud rather than use their screw and fashioned a conforming handle with this. All I can say is the flames from the stove don't seem to effect it at all and it is very strong. Hard to mix and can be runny. Appears to be a mixture of epoxies, glass and resins. But unlike low temp stuff it doesn't seem to melt, crack or expand with high heat. Tested temp at the pot handle and it was 720F.

If you need something that will stand up to extreme temps, this might be for you, but it was not for me. I just needed something that would take some heat but also stand up to moisture. I was unlucky enough to buy this just before the reviews of it not being water proof showed up so I was quite disappointed when it dissolved! Because of this I'm better off with a 2-part epoxy for my purposes. Maybe I'll have other uses for it in the future, but I'd be sure to coat it in something to protect it from water!

Be sure to mix this thoroughly before use. Basically the stuff sinks in the water so you have to stir it back up to turn it into a goop. As the water dries, it solidifies like depositing sediment providing a little bit of control over how runny it is. Although it is much more runny than putty and great for flowing into a mold or something. It is an interesting material if nothing else.
