This is really nice for stretching a stiff back. Until you know what level of stretch you can tolerate, start with the first (flattest) setting, keep your knees bent, and focus on RELAXING your back. If you feel no discomfort, you can straighten your legs and/or straighten your arms over your head to intensify the stretch. To easily adjust the device, sit in a chair and place the wide end on the floor between your feet, then push the top edge down until it fits into the next slot, and repeat the above directions until you find the level that's right for you. Don't try to rush things! As for the nodes, I was worried that they would be uncomfortable but I can't even feel them. I would have given 5 stars except that I thought $25.00 was a little expensive for what you actually get.

I have had chronic back issues for quite a few years now (it's actually become somewhat embarrassing: it took me awhile to realize that my constant back stretching/cracking motions while sitting at my desk in the office probably make me appear like I have some kind of irrepressible tick… and that may be exactly what I do have, considering it’s gotten to the point where I cannot control the urge.).Years ago I got into a habit of lying face up, width-wise across my bed each evening, my lower half on the bed and my upper half hanging off the bed (steadied by my hands on the floor, if you can picture this), just to get an arched back stretch for 10 minutes or so. This does help, but it isn’t fun, as the blood-rush to the head is intolerable after too long.
I’ve seen products like the Magic Back and always thought they looked like they wouldn’t give enough of a stretch – the arch seemed too shallow to be effective. I was WRONG. So far I haven’t gotten past the Level 2 arch; Level 2 has done a GREAT job of relieving my lower-mid back tension for the entire evening/night. I haven’t yet graduated to Level 3, but am glad I still have the option of a more strenuous stretch. I only used Level 1 for a few minutes as it didn’t seem to be enough of a stretch for me.
*I like that the Magic Back is small in length that you can move it to pinpoint the various spots of need on your back (very low, low, mid…). Other longer models don’t provide opportunity to use them more than one specific way.
*I do not think the “10 thumb-tip-shaped nodes” have any benefit at all (in fact, they cause more pain than I believe the flat-surface Magic Back model would) – but this discomfort can be alleviated by placing a blanket, a yoga-mat, etc. over the Magic Back (you still get the same arch, but avoid the hard plastic & “nodes”).
Now I just need to find a smaller model made for neck-stretching…

MAGIC BACK VS. BACK MAGIC, similar name, looks the same, but it is not the same. I was purchasing this for my son because I loved my Back Magic so much. Back Magic is a better product for the same price. Don't let the tricky name fool you- Back Magic is a much better product!

I bought this item on ebay recently. From another seller. Please DO NOT BUY IT. It's very defective and dangerous. It broke the third time I tried to use it, and while I was lying on the product. I was very fortunate not to have been seriously injured. Honestly, spend your money on something else. I am still trying to get a refund on the purchase price.
