4.0 out of 5 stars pretty nice
Small, compact, and versitle. I think it is a great product and pretty affordable.
One note: the blades will rust slightly if you don't turn them upside down in the dishwasher. So just make sure the blades are facing towards the floor when you run them through the dishwasher.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great product - short lifespan, July 19, 2008
I love using the Magic Bullet for the reasons listed on this site - mainly convenience of use and cleanup. Here is the catch, however. My first Magic Bullet lasted about 6 months with daily usage. I thought that the short lifespan was a fluke, so I bought another Magic Bullet. The second one lasted about two months with daily usage. Daily usage was making smoothies and grinding cheese, ice, nuts - nothing unusual, according to the sales pitch.

Believe it or not, I'm looking to buy a third Magic Bullet because of the convenience (it literally cleans up in seconds vs. a blender because the blade is easier to get at), but now I know that I'm only going to have it for a short time.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!!!!, December 5, 2007
I LOVE IT. I bought two on special..After 2 months..one did have a problem with the spin head..but I called and they sent another one out immediately..It's been over a year and both are fantastic. The base is built well and sturdy. Doesn't feel cheap except for the plastic cups and blender. But you know what..I find a use for it almost every day..and if the cups get beat up...probably best they are plastic....it really does everything!!
I make my own butter, grind coffee beans, make smoothies...chop a lot of stuff...and make and ice cream.
-----------------------------------------------
For an individual cup of ice cream:

Fill the large cup with 2/3 heavy cream. Blend until like whipped cream.

Remove chopper and then add:

3 heavy spoonfuls of sweetened condensed milk.
1 table spoon vanilla extract and
1 teaspoon or more of an alcohol of choice. (keeps milk from overhardening)
and any other flavors or additions at this point.

Put lid back on blend for about 5-10 seconds..take off and shake ingredients for a few seconds and reblend for another 10 seconds (just make sure it's mixed well). Freeze for about an hour! If it's too hard try adding a bit more of the Added ingredients next time.
----------------------------------------------
For your favorite compote spread/topping..I like cranberries. The result of this recipe removes the tartness of them and it tastes more like strawberries when done!!!

I blend 2/3 cup of cranberries with a splash of water (maybe 1/5 cup of water) Strain liquid into cup.

(Once the juice is in the cup..I add some other juice with the cranberry juice and just drink it while I finish making the compote.)

Press the pulp left on the strainer to get as much water out as you can. Put pulp in a small boiler on low heat...add a little water, sugar to taste, and anything else you may like such as vanilla extract or vanilla flavoring or a dash of alcohol of choice (keeps better longer). Keep stirring while boiling till you get the thickness you want.

Cool and use as bread spread OR ice cream topping. You can use any fruit. Keeps a long time in a well cold fridge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Convenient, July 13, 2008
I use my magic bullet almost every morning to make my breakfast smoothie. It's perfect for a single serving and easy to clean and store. It's small enough to pack in a suitcase for travel. The only downside I've found with this blender is that it can overheat if used for too long. It's best to use the pulse method of blending if you're preparing several servings at once or you are chopping or blending something with a thicker consistency.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money, November 17, 2007

Save your money on this purchase, and buy an alternate brand instead. It was great for making smoothies; however after my third one broke within the year, I wrote to customer service, which was an even more frustrating experience than the failure of the product. The gear in the top of the base unit is cheap plastic, and easily fractures after a number of uses. I wrote to them, asking simply for a gear to replace the broken one, explaining this was my third unit, and all three broke the same way. They responded, asking me to send pictures of my unit, as well as of the booklet, and then would not replace the gear, but would sell me a new base at a discounted price, and shipping/handling charges. I used the unit to make smoothies, and grind coffee beans. Using it to chop vegetables, make tuna salad etc basically turns everything into mush. And each of the units ultimately leaked down into the base. I am much happier with my current brand, which is a Tribest Personal Blender. Though not as many accessories, it does come with travel lids for the top of the cups, which fit nicely into my car cup holder, which the Magic Bullet cups did not.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't believe the hype, January 14, 2008

Magic Bullet Complete 21 Piece Mix and Chopping System
This product is hyped in ads on TV as being simple to use. Don't believe it. It takes a great deal of skill and practice to use it and not turn the item you are processing to mush. The instructions even say that. Even with practice the Magic Bullet does not even approach the uses shown in the ads. For example. It says it grates all kinds of cheeses. Not true, if you put a soft cheese (e.g. sharp cheddar) it just turns to mush even using the techniques described on the manual and on their website. Yet I can easily grate this cheese on my hand grater.

We tried to chop onions and even using the lightest touch we got - mush
Carrots - mush. We were able to make smoothies because you basically want those to be mush. Hard cheeses like Parmesan seem to work OK.

Basically, this device is much more limited than advertised and if you have a blender already there is no sense in buying this product because it can't do much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic Bullet, February 8, 2008
This is a product that I have seen on television for a while and finally decided after rennovation of my kitchen to buy and I love it. You can mix drinks effortlessly, whip cream with a push, and many things. I keep it handy on the counter and use it almost daily for one thing or other.
I would recommend everyone have one of these machines.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved mine!, April 15, 2010
By
I bought this after countless nights of no sleep, and this infomercial being the only thing on. I loved mine. I agree with everyone else that, eventually, this will break or stop working. I bought the entire set for my small bistro restaurant, and lemme tell ya.. we used the hell out this thing. Everyday, almost all day, for drinks, fresh salad dressings, and blended coffees. It did die on me after about a year and half - but come on!! How long is it really suppose to last? It's $50 at the most, and it is awesome! I am getting ready to buy a new one because I gave in and bought a fancy expensive blender... however.... my fancy blender doesn't do quite as well as the bullett blender, and it takes up more room...and it's a big blender that has to be cleaned before each and every use...and it doesn't blend my stuff as smooothly as the bullet does. Even if it holds on only 2-3 years as other reviewers have stated.. it's worth it to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bullet Blender a must!, December 1, 2007
My results with the Bullet Blender are quite different from the previous user, so maybe they had a lemon? I use mine DAILY...to make smoothies....actually...twice a day most days. (for the past 8 months) I now have two of them so that I can keep one in my travel bag. I never want to be without it. Thinking of buying a third. <g> I use at least 6 ice cubes in my smoothie, sometimes fruit. Handles it very well. It does make a racket so you might consider ear plugs :).
Highly recommended for certain things. I don't know that it replaces ALL kitchen appliances, but it does a few things VERY well and it is easier to clean than a large blender. I have only had to replace the gasket in the blender jar. (after a year or more). Just a thought. mb
