I was impressed by the performance of this little Magic Chef microwave! Not only is it large enough to rotate my large dinner plates (they are the same as those heavy oval platters you see in restaurants), but it cooks quickly and evenly. My favorite feature is that you can just press the start button a few times to add up 30 second increments. When you reach the time you want (say 1minute 30 seconds) the unit automatically starts a few seconds later.

There are 10 different power levels, smart button for special items like popcorn and several defrost options tailored for the specific item you are defrosting. In all, it's a well designed little package that doesn't take up too much counter space while still being large enough to accommodate larger plates and bowls.

We were space limited and spoiled by a 12 year old Japanese-made Panasonic that finally died. We had been very disappointed by a smaller 2 year old (prox 700 watts and .8 cu-ft) Chinese made Emerson which proved unreliable. With trepidation, we bought this Magic Chef, as it was on sale at Kohl's, and only cost $75. In addition to the price, the fact that the magnetron had an 8-year warranty was encouraging. However, most online reviews were negative.

After about 3-weeks I can say that:
The "pro" side includes, size (more compact) but easily handles full sized dinner plates; quiet; very clever numeric controls-- more run-time choices with far fewer key clicks; and it seems more powerful than we expected from 1000 watts.

The biggest "con" is the poorly written user manual.

Only time will tell as to how long it lasts.

The product is fine if you happen to get a good unit. I am still attempting to resolve issues with Magic Chief independent repair agents to L.A.

This microwave looked promising for its design, size, and one-button features. We installed it new into our kitchen. After less than a week it simply stopped working. Very undependable, and not reliable at all! Have never gotten it to work again, and on the way to return it. :(
