This is the most Complete Crazy Quilting Book I have Seen,
This review is from: The Magic of Crazy Quilting: A Complete Resource for Embellished Quilting (Paperback)
I have been doing Crazy Patchwork for about a year now and collecting books for about that amount of time, and this is the best one on technique that I have found. Michler takes you from choosing supplies to finishing techniques. I picked this one up because I was needing to learn some techniques for actually finishing a quilt. This was perfect and also taught me some new ideas on embellishing. I disagreed with a few opinions in the book, but as far as technique goes, this is THE book for Crazy Quilting. If I had had this book a year ago, teaching myself would have been so much easier.

The only wish I have is that I had this book before I did my first crazy quilt. Anyone who is starting out should find this book a must, and anyone who wants to learn new ideas should find this book a must.It is a joy to own and one I would never give up.If you need information on crazy quilting this book is the first place to look for the answers.

This book gave me the courage to *start* a crazy quilt!,

I have been looking longingly at crazy quilts since I was 14, and collecting books on crazy quilts for about 8 months. *This* book actually gave me the courage to start a crazy quilt of my own. The pictures are lovely, the instructions on construction are clear and concise and the sheer number of embroidery ideas is staggering. I have carried this book around with me in the days since it arrived poring over the pages and saying to myself, " I can do that." An ideal book for the beginner, wondering where to start, it also contains plenty of ideas for the long-time quilter looking for something new to inspire her work. Michler has truly captured the 'magic' of the crazy quilt and made it accessible to her reader.

I absolutely love this book! It provides a wonderful summary of many embroidery stitches, ribbon embroidery and other techniques possible for embellishments. I would truly recommend it to anyone wanting to start a crazy quilt or to someone who is interested in doing additional hand work on their quilts. It is near the top of my "Best Quilting Books" list.

I bought this book several months ago to learn how to patch the squares and finish a quilt. It has been a wonderful resource book and very inspirational. There are tons of color photos that show great detail and there are several templates to give beginners some ideas about embelishments. I have made several projects since I got this book and I refer to it all the time. It's a great book to have if you love to do fancy emboidery stitches and crazy quilting. I definately recommend it!

If I was making up a care package to send to a distant friend, with velvets and needles and and embroidery floss, and only ONE book on making crazy quilts...This would be the book! It's strength is in the number of ways to make the basic block, combined with the many wonderful drawings of all the variations you can get from each one of the classic crazy quilt stitches. When I teach my first crazy quilt class, this will be on the top of the "Suggested" list...

I am a quilter but have never tried a crazy quilt. I have always enjoyed how they look and wanted to try one, but NOT without some help. I follow patterns well but am NOT good at just seeing something and doing it. This book IS exactly what I needed to get started on this technique. It gives step by step instructions on lots of stitches and a few small projects to try before you jump into the BIG quilt. I have read it from cover to cover and am looking forward to looking for vintage materials and embellishments to start. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who wants to try to step into the crazy quilting craze. WHAT A HELP!!!!YOU won't be sorry for investing in this book.

J. Marsha Michler writes not only for those needle artists who are advanced in this art, but her text, illustrations and stunning photos, which are taken with great clarity, enables even the novice to embark on this exciting adventure of needle art. Michler's inspiring designs endow the artist to new heights of creativity which are applicable, not only to crazy quilting, but to other heartening crafts such as the embellishment of clothing, decorative home goods--anything and everything in which one's mind can conceive. She takes the fear of the unknown and ushers in an epiphany of understanding and, whetting one's appetite, inflames and emboldens the needle artist to a personal magnum opus--a new elevation of artistic vision.
Thank you, Marsha, for sharing this masterpiece with us, and inspiring us to yet greater feats of virtuosity! This is a super-good book for both beginner and advanced needle artists.

This is a great book. Lots of instructions and beautiful pictures. I purchased it when I got talked into helping my mom's quilt group by making a crazy quilt square. I had never made one before and with the inspiration of this book I ended up having the most elaborate block of them all! I definitely recommend it.
