5.0 out of 5 stars This is the Sam we know and love
I believe I was subscriber #96 for Long Play and not a moment too soon. What a unique idea and a treat of a year to be able to follow the creative process of the Sam Phillips we know and love. I was happy to support an endeavor that let us tag along with my favorite artist, untethered by corporate restrictions, giving her room to create literally Magic for Everybody. From...

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible!
I dont think I have ever heard an artist so stuck in a sound as Sam Phillips! Different song, another year, but sounds exactly like every other song she has put out for the last 5 years. Mundane, boring, terrible! I was listening the other day to Leslie Phillips (her Christian albums), The Turning, and some early Sam, how good was some of that stuff! She has lost it...

From her first 1983 debut as Leslie Phillips (Beyond Saturday Night) to the latest as Sam (Days of the One Night Stands) - the titles of which ironically seem to be thematic cousins - I've followed her entire lyrical journey intently because it has strangely mirrored my own endless ponderings. Her music has that way about it - it knows you, recognizes and gives a nod to the questions you ask yourself about life, truth and the pursuit of something real. Your own inquiries are somehow validated when someone who has access to a guitar and a mic openly asks the same.

This EP is part of Sam's web project, The Long Play. Over the course of the year, she releases an EP every couple of months, with a complete LP scheduled later in the year. For SamFans, it has been a real gift, letting us in on the artistic process. Sam shares her thoughts, interviews friends and collaborators, presents artwork, uploads 8MM movies etc. I highly recommend the subscription ($ 52.00 for the music through the release of the LP. You can catch up on what is already released)

As for this EP, the music is fantastic; spare, precise, highly melodic, , typical of the approach she has been cultivating the past ten years or so. If you like 'A Boot and a Shoe' or 'Don't Do Anything' you will feel at home here.

Wonderful Stuff. Don't pass it up.

I cant believe there's anyone left who would even listen to this junk!
