4.0 out of 5 stars Magic Card Review
Cards were a great addition. Only problem I saw was the number of duplicates in the same pack but over all a great buy. May be purchasing more in the future....

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT Waste Your Money
Okay, first and foremost...I love Magic The Gathering and was super psyched to find this deal here, especially for such a reasonable price.
After waiting a few days past the stated delivery time, it finally arrived in a box with some RANDOM guy's name on it. (It was not the name of any company, and certainly not the company advertising this.)
I opened the box...

I opened the box and began sorting through the cards to find that I had made a tremendous mistake and had essentially flushed $[...] down the toilet for the following reasons:

1. The description states that this product has "great variety" and "light" duplication of cards. It also says that there are more than 1,000 cards to make up for what duplicates you might end up with. HOWEVER, I ended up with (and I count) 120 copies of the EXACT SAME CARD.

2. This excessive duplication continued throughout the entire set of cards, and I now have about 40 of the this card, and another 30-some of another.

3. Therefore, NO amount of "additional cards" to "make up for the duplications" will make up for the fact that I have about TWO DECKS' WORTH of the SAME CARD and ended up with only about 200-some cards, considering all or most of them had about 20-some duplicates.

4. It says it has cards from a variety of different sets. This is true, but KEEP IN MIND that if you are wanting to play these at any STANDARD tournament, NONE of them are new enough to be used in current game-play. Unless you just play with your friends, these are essentially useless.

5. The "25 rare" statement is also a LIE. I opened the box and the first thing I found was an actual plastic-wrapped set of cards, which I took to be the so-called "rares." While a few of them were in fact "Rare" cards, a majority of them weren't and were no different than the other cards of the set.

SO, in summary, I don't want you to fall victim to the same scam that I have now fallen for. In preparing to order this, I made a point to read over the reviews and see what others had thought so far. All of the reviews on here seemed quite positive, which convinced me to order the product and waste almost $[...] on essentially nothing.
Please take this review into consideration before ordering this product.
I will not sugar-coat anything, but do my best to provide you with the information so you are aware of the truth behind this and this particular distributor.
If you love the game, or are interested in starting a deck for yourself, this is NOT going to be a helpful product, and I don't want to see you waste your money like I already have.

Good luck in your search for cards elsewhere!

Game On.

If you are a casual player looking to bulk up your collection, random assortments are a great deal. Yes, you are likely to end up with a bunch of duplicates, junk cards, and apparently foreign language cards, but that's perfectly OK since you are getting tons of cards, many of which will be perfectly usable.

I do recommend that you shop around. I just visited a couple card shop websites and saw similar offers for at least 50% less than this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Magic Cards, July 10, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: 1000 Magic the Gathering Cards Plus Bonus 25 Rares (Toy)
PROS:
- Good value for price
- Mint Condition quality
- Recommended for Beginner to Intermediate players

CONS:
- Few to no lands, if need lands look for different product
- Cards wrapped in paper rather than a typical magic cards box so you have to come up with your own way to store the cards (however, they were packed very well and no damage)
- Not recommended for Experts; better off buying specific cards.

OVERALL:
As someone else said, a great buy for anyone wanting to beef up their collection really quickly or someone coming back after a long break to catch up on a lot of the common and uncommon cards missed out over the past few years.

DO NOT BUY FROM Troll And Toad EVER. i got 62 different kinds of crads, just 62 kinds. as much fun as it would be to mess with my fried with a deck of 200 Furnace Celebration its not worth it. They even shorted me in cards there was 992 cards there not even the full 1000 duplicates i want my 8 volition reins thank you very much. Every single card was from[...] Scars of Mirrodin, so my guss is that the shipper just bought like 150 boster packs and picked out every land and valuable card and sent me the Crap. The so called 25 "rares" wern't all rares and even the rares had duplicates in them, i mean come on, there where 20 non duplicated in the 25 rares, you suck and go to heck, good day

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as described, October 10, 2010

Buyers beware. This is a set of 1000 cards, but the duplication level is nowhere near what could be described as "light". Nearly every card in the package was duplicated 10+ times. s Additionally, approximately 1/3rd of the cards are "dual color", which make them hard/useless to use.

What I expected was a bunch of various cards from older expansions with the "top rank" cards pulled out. What was received so far below that expectation that I doubt I could have made one solid deck out of it.

The only redemption for the seller was that he accepted return for refund of the product promptly.

Alright guys, so I spent almost a week figuring out what I received. I paid 29 bucks total for this item. I received:

970 total commons + uncommons
of which 570 were unique cards, in addition to 25 rares, all different.
Uncommons accounted for about 100 of the 970+ cards.
Cards were well organized in packs of 100, mostly organized into their blocks/cycle already.
Rares were kept in separate pack.
All cards were in near mint to very good condition.

Now keep in mind I may have miscounted the duplicates which could explain why I'm missing 30 commons or so. I believe they are all here I just didn't input them into my Excel sheet (Yes, I keep a file of all my cards, I know)

Over 500 of my cards were from the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor superblock, predominately in the Shadowmoor cycle, specifically Eventide. Most of my 4+ duplicates were from Eventide, with only 56 unique cards out of 218, many of them up to 7+ copies each. Luckily, this block yielded some strong dual colored monsters, and the 4+ copies actually helped me construct a solid deck that's great for block play and pauper format.

I received a handful of cards from the Ice Age block as well as early reprints. They were neat to keep in the binder, nothing tournament worthy however.

After the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor, most of the cards were from the Alara and Zendikar cycles, with some great cards including the Eldrazis! Not as many duplicate copies here. Infact, out of the 120 or so Zendikar cards, there were almost 100 unique cards. The rest were healthy mixes from Time Spiral, Kamigawa, and the only Core Set I got was the 10th edition. I'd say every mana was accounted for as well. I loved the Alara and Shadowmoor block's mixed colors though, fit well with my multi themed play.

Now to analyze this purchase. I'll round up to $30. That can get you 10 boosters at regular price. Giving you 150 cards with 15 rares, maybe a shot at a mythic rare on average. I just got 1,000 cards, with 25 rares, from Ice Age to Zendikar, for $30. About 570 were unique, so that's what, 5.5 cents per card? I read some HORROR reviews on here where people get 100 copies of the same card! I would be mad as well. My purchase is from Gathering Ground aka Gaming Broker so they're a reliable bunch.

Would I buy again? Well, probably, although I don't want another 500 cards from the Shadowmoor set again. I would experiment with different sellers, but ones that are reputable, to ensure a good mix of cards. Remember ebay also sells magic cards by the lot!

First of all, the duplication in my box was insane. Half of my cards were only 17 different cards (all basically useless multicolored cards), I got 126 of one card and 20-80 of the others. Second, almost the whole other half was blue. Try to give your customers some more variety...

rares were allright though. most of them anyways.

I have ordered from this tittle 3 times. The first time was a really good turn out, the second time was pretty good as well. but the third time i ordered from troll and toad or what ever its called and this is what i got: 25 rares: 6 of the same, 3 of the same and then a double; 500 cards in japanese, and the other 500 were only commons from scars of mirrodin. so the first two times were really good but because of that really bad turn out the third time i will never order from this user again, and i stress caution when ordering because you might get what i got :/

So, as my husband and I recently got back into playing magic, we were really excited to begin building decks. When we saw this product on Amazon and read the description of said product we ordered it with possibly the intention of ordering more later.

Yesterday we opened the package and were immediately disgusted. Out of the 168 cards I initially looked at, 76 were duplicates and 54 of them were dual colored cards. So, that's nearly 1/2 of the cards as duplicates (I found up to 5 or 6 of some cards and my husband found up to 10 of some cards) and 1/3 of the cards in a category that is fairly undesirable. When he emailed the seller, the response was that we were paying less than 2 cents per card and they were sorry if it wasn't what we expected and that we could send them back.

So, the message I get is that it is fine to lie and cheat your customers as long as you don't charge them very much. We expected to receive what they stated the product to be. We expected honesty.

Now, at our expense, we will have to ship back this useless product. Buyer beware! I can't understand why they have so many good reviews...makes me think they are fakes like the product we received.
