Magic is a fantastic game. Or was. I nearly love it. It allows lots of tactis and strategies. But too much is too much. First there are too much cards. There are so many that playing with game is like reading a novel. Too much money: these cards do not worth the quarter the price they are sold. I do not like at all paying the price of half a pizza to buy 15 bits of...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Set of Cards, October 10, 2002

The Odyssey expansion for Magic Cards finally came! This set introduces two brand new rules (mechanics) to the already very diverse world of Magic. The first of these two mechanics is Threshold. Threshold makes some cards bigger and better if seven or more cards are in your graveyard. The second mechanic, Flashback, lets some cards be played again after they go to the graveyard. Now opponents will think twice before sending one of your spells to the graveyard!!

With those mechanics and Magic's numerous fantastical cards, this set has proven to be quite a successful one. There are a near infinite number of possibilities for you to explore with this amazing game.

Odyssey's Tournament pack, like all others before it comes with 75 randomly inserted cards, 3 of which are rares, 11 uncommons, six basic lands of each type and the rest consists of common cards. Just think: you'll save a few bucks buying this; compared to a theme deck with two rares, this pack has ONE ADDITIONAL RARE FOR THE SAME PRICE!!! Including all the other cards and 6 lands of each type, I'd say this is a flooping good deal! (I'm not saying that Magic theme decks aren't worth it though, they are actually quite useful, in that they guarantee certain rares as well as display some cool strategies.)

So, if I were you, I'd be purchasing this pack right now and not bothering to read the rest of my review. BUT BEFORE YOU STOP READING, can you please say that my review was helpful? Come on! Pretty, pretty please with sugar on top? (Cause ol' Gil really needs this one!)

I'm just your ordinary, everyday, average guy. When i was about 10 years old, my cousin bought a large box of strange cards when he was visiting my house. He pulled out these "Magic" cards and i thought he was gonna pull a rabbit out too. Instead of finding a rabbit, I found a fun-filled, extraordinarily customizable game. First of all, there are infinite ways of winning. Each individual match is unique. Players play with a deck of 40 cards or more, all vividly illustrated and each with its own unique ability set. There are five colors, Red, blue, black, white, and green. Each color has its own set of creatures and spells unique to its color. This game is truly excellent and a great alternative to video games. Hey, If you don't believe me, buy a deck for yourself and start playing!

This is a very advanced card game and is not for younger aged kids. The game has a high educational value, unlike Yu-Gi-Oh (which I also play), because it actually requires a lot of thinking and strategy. Not only that but it is half of the price of Yu-Gi-Oh (that doesn't mean go out and buy it because it is cheaper). The game has a low durability level because it is made up of individual cards that can be torn, ripped, scratched, etc.

I love to play this game at my high school and i think it is very challenging, fun, and also it takes strategy. My friend taught me to play this game and the first 2-3 times i was confused but soon i learned and got better and better. This game is more fun than pokemon and also is cheaper, plus I am goin to say it is better than yugio because i despise that game, first off yugio is expensive and i think the pictures are very corny.Magic teaches you strategy and you can go from casual to tournament playing. Also its not a childs type game like pokemon, this is good from ages 12-80.Oddesy is a good expansion pack.

I LOVE this game- when I can find someone to play with. It is innovative, involves more strategy than luck, and has a fantasy element that enhances the fascination many people have with it. It encourages creativity and can be either very casual or very rigid and competitive, according to your tastes. However, while there are people who play it all over the world, there are not necessarily a lot of them in one place. It does get pricey, particularly if you are into collecting, tournaments, or even just keeping up with the current sets. It is also a very complex game- somewhat difficult to explain without watching at the same time, and almost impossible to learn without some outside resource (book, friend, etc.)

Oh my god this game is fun. I havent bought this deck yet but i've bought a ton of different ones. If you really like this game i suggest you should look at the Magic The Gathering books and look at friday night magic. For me its kind of hard to find people to play with but when i play its very fun. The pictures on the cards are very cool and this game is much better than yugio or pokemon. Oh yeah if you like this game check out Dungeons and Dragons.

Magic is a fun and educational game. It is not a fad like pokemon was. Magic is so old your parents might have played it. I would reccomend this game for your child if he/she is bored. I have been playing it for over a year now and it's really fun.

There are so many that playing with game is like reading a novel. Too much money: these cards do not worth the quarter the price they are sold. I do not like at all paying the price of half a pizza to buy 15 bits of cardboard. Too much rules. Many rules are good to enlarge the strategic options, but there are so many that it becomes like a big pudding. I think this game lost its personality and originality. New series are just good enough to be bought by those who are seduced by new packages and new powerful cards that unbalance the whole game and make the older ones nearby unusable. This game just deserves to be replaced by a more affordable, non-collectible card game.
