5.0 out of 5 stars The Magic of Getting What You Want
I was "downsized" out of my 20-year career with a major company. As I was beginning to deal with "issues", I came across this book. It truly put me on the right path back. I found it extremely uplifting; it reinforced my "principles" and it's helped me to begin dealing with my situation in a more objective way. I highly recommend it to...

2.0 out of 5 stars Definitely boring and lack substance
The book gives numerous examples to birng forward Schwartz's points which I feel were unconvincing. His arguments were not very motivating which is afterall the whole point of reading the book

I was "downsized" out of my 20-year career with a major company. As I was beginning to deal with "issues", I came across this book. It truly put me on the right path back. I found it extremely uplifting; it reinforced my "principles" and it's helped me to begin dealing with my situation in a more objective way. I highly recommend it to anyone who's experienced job loss and is preparing to make a comeback!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Connect with the Author, April 11, 2004
Dr Schwartz may have written this book over 20 years ago, but his message transends decades. Easy to swallow snippets of examples in how to improve one's life never grow old. One thing I enjoyed and you will to, is the end of chapter summaries. They each give an overview of the stories told previously and help those of us, who want to use this book as a reference in our everyday lives. This book will join my annual must read list as a refresher on how to be a better family member, mate, employee, employer and friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars I found the book full of common sence ideas., July 1, 1999

I found this book a good plan to live life by and conduct business by. Some NA sayers will criticize the straight forward approach to conducting one self but I believe the contents of this book are a good road map to a more satisfying life.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Same old stuff in a very edible format", November 29, 2001

(REAL NAME)
Not quite the book (The Magic of Thinking Big), however, an excellent treatise on the subject of dealing with people. Dr. Schwartz writes in a manner which is direct and easy to understand--a must for writers of self-help books. The concepts are simple. Treat people with kindness, understanding, and assertion, and you will get more of what you want. I know this because I have practiced many of these methods and they have worked for me. You will be surprised at the affect a smile has on other people. While this book was not my favorite, I rate it a solid four stars--plus. Do yourself a favor. Read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good So Far.., August 5, 2011
This review is from: The Magic of Getting What You Want (Paperback)
Recived this book as a gift from my mom.. Opened up the book the other day waiting for the bus.. Good little book that is not just a book about how to be but with small stories behind it. Basic things but the stories make you open up your thoughts more to get the concept about the book. Read the part about being a parent, pg 65, common sense but very good little story.
