5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful intro to the game of Go, September 17, 2006
By
This review is from: The Magic of Go: A Complete Introduction to the Game (Paperback)
I cannot say enough good things about this book. Go is a beautiful game with the depth of chess, but the openings are a little more abstract than chess. Chess players usually love Go and Go players usually love chess. This however is one of the best primers to a complex strategy game that I've ever seen. My copy is battered and worn, because when I meet someone new to the game I loan them my copy to get them started.

The book itself is small, allowing the user to read it and focus on understanding what was taught. If you are interested in learning more about this game or teaching a friend, I cannot recommend this book more. If you like this book, then I would highly recommend the next book be: "The Second Book of Go". These two books will get you well on your way into the wonderful game of Go.

This review is from: The Magic of Go: A Complete Introduction to the Game (Paperback)
This book is the same book as:

Go: A Complete Introduction to the Game (Beginner and Elementary Go Books)

The content is exactly the same, and only the typeface and cover are updated in the above version.

I thought this book was a merely solid introduction to the game, and that it was a bit scattered and disorganized for a complete beginner and a bit basic for a player who has reached the 'teen kyu level.
