As the author implies, "Always Use Caution" AND always check with your doctor if you have any health concerns.

This book is written in a layout of historical background and folklore. There are many uses for hydrogen peroxide shared here and most are recommended with low grade level H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide). The many uses (not all included in this book) depend on the strength and what you mix it with (i.e. dye in glow sticks, to make peroxide blonde hair, grout cleaner, AND yes as a tooth cleaning agent, etc.) but caution is advised!

That being said, my take is if it can be used as a main ingredient in explosive devices (higher strength), I'm not sure I want it (even lower strength) IN my body, but perhaps as a cleaning agent in the house.

Note, 35% hydrogen peroxide is used to prevent infection transmission in hospital environment, and hydrogen peroxide vapor is registered with the US EPA as a sporicidal sterilant.

Quick research indicates the following grades apply (not necessarily recommended by author Thacker, just FYI):

Grades of Hydrogen Peroxide
3% Hydrogen Peroxide (Drug Store / Grocery Store Variety)
Made from Diluted 50% Super D Peroxide.
Contains stabilizers: phenol, acetanilide, sodium stanate, tetrasodium phosphate, etc.

6% Hydrogen Peroxide (Used by Beauticians in Hair Coloring)
Comes in strengths labeled 10, 20 and 40 volume. Activator added to use as a bleach. Unknown Stabilizers.

30% Re-Agent Hydrogen Peroxide
Used in medical research. Contains stabilizers.

30-32% Electronic Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
Used for washing transistors and integrated chip parts before assembly. Unknown Stabilizers.

I was very disappointed with this book. It tells you a few household uses for peroxide that can be purchased by everyone, but the health benefits that is raved about in the advertisement is only for prescription peroxide and of course that means visits to physicians and costly testing. Wished I had saved my money--do yourself a favor and save YOURS!

Warning to anyone who might follow instructions to use hydrogen peroxide orally. Oral use, even in a diluted strength, can cause mucosal membrane abnormalities in the lining of the mouth. My father had been encouraged by a dentist to rinse with hydrogen peroxide which he did for many years. Unfortunately because of that he had to live out his last days in absolute misery, unable to eat or even drink water. The entire mucus lining of his mouth had been destroyed by this practice, making it painful even to swallow. Don't take my word for this; research it on the internet before taking this irresponsible advice.

This is kinda a teaser book...it list things to use hydrogen peroxide for but doesn't tell you HOW to use it and/or the measurements to use.

The book kept repeating details that most people know if they have watched the History channel over the years. I do not care what the chemical was used for during the IIWar as that is long gone, what I wanted to know was what it could be used for and how. It fell short of the how and I knew more before I read it and after reading it my knowledge is still the same. Will not buy a book this way again, will find out what it says some other way.

It's irresponsible, it's fraudulent, it's criminal. This Emily Thacker twit is really out to profit on people; she's not here to help. I've seen the ad for this piece in my newspaper, and I'd love to see it taken down. Hydrogen Peroxide is a dangerous chemical. It doesn't clean wounds, it destroys the tissue. It is a caustic chemical, and a cleaning agent.

A collection of facts about H2O2 that could easily be found in a couple of google searches. Extremely repetitive, explaining and listing the same properties of this substance over and over to fill space. Perhaps 5 pages of useful information, the rest just fluff. There is a whole series of books by this publisher and author dealing with a variety of common substances and I will bet they are as useless.
The best part of this was the full page advertisement in the OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC...sounded like the book and substance of the century. At least I went through Amazon and Kindle and did not send them the $25 plus.

A fun look into the nature and uses of this common material that is so mis-understood or appreciated. Within a single day, this information allowed me to find out for myself just how handy and useful Peroxide will now be. Cleaning, treating, working in ways that make it a regular in this household!
