5.0 out of 5 stars This beats X-men any old day!, April 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Magic Knight Rayearth, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
In this comic series, who would of known such a great anime/manga could beat every other concievable form of entertainment known to man? I sure the hell didn't. The story starts out with 3 characters, Hikaru Shidou, a 14 year old Junior High School student on the trip to Tokyo tower with Umi Ryuuzaki and Fuu Houoji who are also in the same grade but go to different schools..They get transpoted to a realm called "Cerphio" where they learn Magic and try to save this land from the evil Zagato. Stereotypical? Prehaps..but still Cool! The Drawings are well done B&W and they show the character emotions real well..The dialoge is just AMAZING! Unlike the boring unreal mundane dialouge of some other manga's, Rayearth's is translated VERY well with a believeable feel that the girls ACT their age. We have Umi,the stuck up rich psycho, Hikaru, the cute lil heroism female, and Fuu, the quiet and shy, although polite and kind (And not to mention a genius) act sooooo believeable. Trust me..! And Ferio and Fuu, well..they are soooo made for each other! ^_^ There are some parts in the manga where Umi shows off her true feelings and is not the pompus rich snot like we thought! ^_^ The manga also contains lots of character changes. Its so interesting to see the anthology of a character turned into the next! This is just so cute, so romantic, so adventurous, so exciting! I CAN'T PUT THIS MANGA DOWN! I LOVE IT! I haven't fallen love with a comic book like this EVER before! And no, it's not just for girls...its for us guys too, so don't be like I used to be before.."Oh, its a girl comic...Bah! Prolly sucks..." DON'T! IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE OF ALL AGES AND GENDERS! My final word on this masterpiece by Clamp! Well...Tired of the boring mundane humor of the Sunday comics? TIRED of the stupid Marvel Comics X-men? Pick up a copy of Magic Knight Rayearth right now! Your brain doesn't need to be wasted on anything else..^_^

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of the First Three!, November 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Magic Knight Rayearth, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
I thought that the first two books were spectacular, but volume three in this series just blew me away! The artwork, as always, was beautiful, and the plot twist at the end just made me plotz!

I wish Volume 4 (Yes, there is a 4th, 5th and 6th volume!) would come out sooner than June 2000, but better then than never!

5.0 out of 5 stars The epitome of shoujo manga, April 5, 2000
This review is from: Magic Knight Rayearth, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
I laughed. I cried. I "puu"ed. How can a cute little story about three girls in a magical faraway place stir so much emotion? The plot seems about as trite as it gets, but the ending is always what gets me. I've seen the anime series twice, played the SNES game, and read the manga Vols. 1-3, but I *still* cry everytime I get to the end. There isn't any other story that does that to me. Rayearth may be a stereotypical fairy tale to some, but it's a fairy tale that pulls on your heartstrings. Buy it and be amazed.
