4.0 out of 5 stars Solid entertainment... 4 1/2 stars!, July 20, 2002
This review is from: Magic Lands & Other Stories (Paperback)
Stanek's been a favorite ever since I read Keeper Martin. Magic Lands & other Stories is a book of short fiction. I loved "silence is golden". ev prooves girls rule! She's strong, unafraid of the hand she's ben dealt. She does what has to be done. This one story shows Stanek's as brilliant in short form as he is with novels. I also loved "magic lands," the title story of the book. Ray and Kerry's stories work wonderfully together. These are both solid works. While I liked "august rains", I didn't really care for "absolutes". "absolutes" is a good story, perhaps great, but it's science fiction in the truest sense. I will admit to reading "absolutes" twice. You almost have to to get what realy happens. In summary, i think there's somethign here for everyone. It is surely a worthwhile read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing story collection, September 22, 2002
This review is from: Magic Lands & Other Stories (Paperback)
Thank you Mr. Stanek for this excellent book! Magic Lands hits straight and delivers! I liked all 4 stories! I didn't want it to end. Stanek's style kept me busily turning pages. I read several of the stories twice--something I haven't done in years. This is brilliant. A must read

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Books ever, January 18, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Magic Lands & Other Stories (Paperback)
This book is splendid. Robert Stanek has the ability to make you feel what the characters are feeling. When Ray had to do his tasks during the journey, I litterally felt nervous!! There were times when I got through 2 pages in what seemed like half a second because I was so anxious to know what happened next. Everything is just right in this book. There's suspense, horror, humor, romance, and of course magic. I loved all the stories.
