Great extension to the official owner's manual!,

This review is from: Magic Lantern Guides: Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D/Dynax 7D (A Lark Photography Book) (Paperback)
Are you excited about your new Maxxum 7D? Want to read more and more about taking pictures, lenses to use and features of your new camera? Then this is the book for you.
I called this an "extension" to the manual, as it is not a replacement. The manual tends to tell you WHAT a menu item or button is, and this book tends to tell you what it is and HOW to use it. The book covers aperture, shutter speed, lenses, accessories, flash photography and also gives scenarios and how to use your camera in those situations. It will focus on a given situation, say, taking a potrait in cloudy conditions, then tell you specifics on how to use the Maxxum 7D's features to get the best outcome. Overall, I would say this book is better for the beginner to intermediate photographer. Advanced photographer's will find a lot of "I already knew that" amongst the pages, but it is still a good read on the toilet. You can get away with just the official manual, but if you are really excited about your new Maxxum 7D, you'll want this book.

Has Good Info But Doesn't Have Any Color Pictures,
By WCarp (Omak, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Magic Lantern Guides: Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D/Dynax 7D (A Lark Photography Book) (Paperback)
I found the book to have a good amount of information covering the Minolta Maxxum 7D camera plus general info covering photography. It has pictures showing the controls and a reasonable index to find things. The DiMAGE Viewer software is mentioned and also some info about working with images I found to be helpful.
The only negative thing about the book I found so far, really, is that there are no color photos at all! Black and white pictures of flowers and of other things, for instance, I feel is strange. The book would be substantially better if it had color photos.

Definitely goes beyond the owners manual providing useful perspective on how to get more out of the numerous controls and customizing options for this fine camera. Also a useful guide for improving your photos.

This book is very good. A lot more info than the instructions that came with the camera. Helps you understand the functions and how to operate your new camera. This book is a must for using your new Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D/Dynax 7D.

This is a great book for my camera. The price is ridiculous and I found the same book elsewhere selling for $25! It was $1.00 and is the best purchase I have made in a long time. It is easy to read, informative and spot on!

This is an outstanding guide to the 7D. The owners' manual just tells you how to sets things on the camera. This guide tells you why you should do it and what the effect will be. .

This book is not only more detailed and informative than the documentation that came with the camera, it helped me understand the differences between digital and film photography. I now see digital photography as an art form in it's own right, and I can't wait to embark on this new journey.

An Excellent Work on an Excellent Camera!,

This review is from: Magic Lantern Guides: Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D/Dynax 7D (A Lark Photography Book) (Paperback)
The Konica-Minolta Maxxum 7D or Dynax 7D was a groundbreaking camera from a groundbreaking firm. This volume will give you everything you need, by way of information and diograms to smoothly master this Legendary Camera.
Magic Latern is well known as an excellent source of information...and this work, by Peter K. Burian, is well written and well conceived. I would recommend it along with The PIP Expanded Guide to the Maxxum / Dynax 7D by Chris Weston. |
