Best of all the Guides,
By
This review is from: Magic Lantern Guides: Nikon D90 (Paperback)
I also have the Dummies book and the Wiley Field Guide, both of which are good, but when I really need to look up something this is the book I turn to, and the answers are always there. Of all of the guides out there, this is the most useful, most detailed, most informative.

Nikon D90 Guidebook,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Magic Lantern Guides: Nikon D90 (Paperback)
The Magic Lantern series is an old faithful - thorough and understandable. This guide is likely best suited for those new to Nikon DSLR's. It would also be useful to intermediate users. The awesome D90 performs so well out of the box that a guide like this is not necessary, but it is well worth the money.
Strong points include explanations of: focus, metering, flash, custom settings. If you are relatively new to digital photography, a competing guide - Nikon D90 Digital Field Guide - contains much of the depth in this Magic Lantern Guide plus a good deal of solid advice on general digital photography technique. For those in this situation, if you were to buy one D90 book only, I'd go with the Field Guide.

Poor index,
This review is from: Magic Lantern Guides: Nikon D90 (Paperback)
The book provides some additional insight into the operation of the D90 camera but it suffers from a very poor index. For me, a good index is critical to a technical book. This book leaves out so many topics that I found myself referring to the Nikon manual most of the time because it has a thorough index. Consequently, I would not recommend this book.
