This is the collected edition of Wrede's series that starts with Mairelon the Magician and hopefully doesn't conclude with Magician's Ward (I really, really want to see more of this wonderful historic fantasy.
If you liked Harry Potter, if you like Historical Fantasy, if you enjoyed any of Wrede's other works; this is a good two-book compiliation for you.

I first picked up these books (repackaged together in one book recently) when I was in junior high and still go back and reread these two books today. The story is well written and Kim is a heroine that I still admire for her common sense. Thief to magician in training.
