Book Description

May 1998 0934380430 978-0934380430
Scot Lowry spent years of researching and testing various methods and systems for futures trading. The moving average system, which is described in detail in this new book, is an eminently practical and logical approach to successful trading. It is the result of Lowry's painstaking research, easily understood and fully explicit. It is geared toward the novice as well as the professional trader.

The reason for writing this book is twofold: first, after years of studying charts, he was able to identify an occurrence in market trading that can almost ensure high returns with minimal risk. This approach to trading is very clear and easy to understand. It leads to the second reason for writing this book. For a long time, he felt this system was too simple to warrant a book, but over time, he became increasingly convinced that the system you are about to learn has been overlooked by the vast majority of people. Why haven't more people seen this? More often than not, people do not see the forest for the trees. In other words, the trading plan you are about to see is so simple that it defies logic. It is not complicated, it is not time consuming and it has no difficult formulas to try and understand. It is an easy, layman's approach to profitable trading in the futures markets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice System!, April 27, 2007
This review is from: Magic of Moving Averages (Paperback)
I think the reason this book has been ripped by the other reviewers is,,because its TOO EASY! People make trading alot harder than it needs to be, so when they are presented an EASY trading system they say, "No freaking way is it THAT easy!" But it is just THIS EASY!!! The problem isnt the system, the problem is when people put up HARD EARNED MONEY and begin trading,,they become VERY EMOTIONAL, thats the toughest part of trading..emotions FEAR AND GREED!!!!!

The author actually GIVES us a moving average system in this book,,,, isnt just a simple crossover method, the author presents a filter that really makes this system click.

If you are someone who has the emotional makeup to trade a moving average system,,,this is the best one i have seen.

The book is loaded with examples on how the system works, the book has around 40 pages of text explaining the system and the rest of the book is chart examples.

I love this moving average system cuz it takes my EMOTIONS out of my trading,,simply put, "When this and this happens,,IM IN! When this and happens,,IM OUT!!!!" Ya dont need to follow any news,,or thumb through endless earnings estimates,,ya just make the trade.

This is simply THE BEST Moving Average System i have seen, buy it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not recomended, March 10, 2002
This review is from: Magic of Moving Averages (Paperback)
If you want know about general use or MAs, run away from this book. I'm still looking for a good one, but definetly this one is the worse.

It gives some good clues about using MA, specially for trading futures, but nothing say on stocks.

The pattern suggested by the author is based only in his intuition and experience, but not in any structured theory.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Magic of Moving Averages (Paperback)
I bought this book thinking it might be about the general use of moving averages for trading. It is not. The author describes a single setup opportunity which he describes as happening very rarely. This book could be of some help to people who trade multiple markets using daily charts. To those who trade only one or a few markets this is not for you. I am not going to say this doesn`t work, but most traders I believe would be disapointed with the book, due to its very narrow scope.
