This series (along with the other two) is the best fantasy writing I have ever read. The characters are REAL....you begin to feel their moods as you read it. When I read The Wishsong of Shannara... the main character developed an introspective, depressed mood, I did the same. I had to get up and go do something else....it's that influential. The descriptions are superb....you feel like you are THERE as you read them. That's about it.....if you like fantasy...these books are definitely the best ones you can find.

Terry Brooks is a genius of Fantasy writing. These books captivate you--pulling you in and making you actually FEEL what the characters are experiencing. Allanon is central to each book, but remains a mystery to even the reader. You can really relate with the Ohmsfords as they struggle in each book to find out who they really are and their individual missions in life. Intense, descriptive, and almost addictive; These books are a "must read."

When i started reading Terry Brook's books, I thought them to be boring, then you get caught up in the story.That was 4 years ago, now I own every book he has ever writen, except the screenplay for ''HOOK''. If I'd have to suggest a certain book to someone(and I have had to do so often), I would absolutely suggest to anybody to read his books.He's a brilliant writer,and has a way to captivate his ''audience''.

The Sword of Shannara is, without a doubt, the best book I have ever read. After I read it, I had to get the Elfstones of Shannara, and the Wishsong soon followed it on my list. If you're into fantasy reading, the Shannara Trilogy should be the first you read.

Terry Brooks has been my favorite author for 15 years.NOBODY and I mean NOBODY writes better battle scenes.With well built characters and the omnipotent evil beings,his writings are hard to put down.The only reason I have to get his newest book is because I've memorized his other ones

The Shannara trilogy are the best fantasy books ever written! Terry Brooks goes into detail while still keeping you on the edge. This trilogy is a must for any fantasy fan

All three of the books enthrall the reader like few trilogies can do. In the Sword of Shannara lies pages of an epic quest and struggle against a very old enemy. Then in the Elfstones of Shannara, lies pages of internal struggles and a hurried flight to save the Four Lands from it's first enemies since the beginning of time itself. Finally, the Wishsong of Shannara is a drama of a fight against time, a fight against one's dark side, and the ending of an age. This set of books is one of the best around yet

Over Christmas Vacation I decided to read the first book in the Heritage Of Shannara, The Scions Of Shannara. I got hooked and read that one along with, the Druid of Shannara, The Elf Queen Of Shannara, And The Talismans Of Shannara in a total of 3 days. After reading these I quickl went to the store and bought the Sword Of Shannara, The First King Of Shannara, and The Wishsong of Shannara. I have read almost all of the brooks books. They have a way of enthralling you and not letting you put it down until you find out what happens to brin ,wil ,allanon ,or whoever. I read Tolkien before these and thought I would never find another series that caught me up so completely. I was wonderfully suprised to find myself needing to buy all of the other books to see where the tales led. This is definitely some of the best fantasy writing I have ever read. These are for you if fantasy is your thing.

I have read the entire series several times and still find myself in awe...It was Terry Brooks that got me interested in fantasy books and remains one of my fave authors. I would highly recomend the Shannara series to anyone. A new continuation of the Shannara series has just started and i look forward to the thrills that they hold. Terry Brooks is amazing and it is not only his Shannara series that has destinguished him, i have also read "Running with the Deamon", "A Knight Of The Word" and Angel Fire East" and although they are not the conventional fantasy form set in a magic kingdom worlds away it brings it home and is excellent in it its own right.
