Touching magic,

The Jazz guitar virtuoso's accomplished technique was apparent from the start, as marvelous cover songs and arresting originals transported and extended what the sub-genre usually portrayed.

Stanley Jordan is one of the most gifted jazz guitarists out there. Every song is uniquely stamped with his personality and talent. No matter if it is a mainstream jazz standard like Freddie Freeloader or a cover of a Beatles hit like Eleanor Rigby, each song is crafted carefully to commuicate his vision with the listener.

Best!,

This album is a timeless piece of music. I somewhat agree with the reviewers in regards to the marketing efforts of Stanley, etc... He had not been given an appropriate exposure by publicity...It's a shame, since this guitarist is definately one of the best (if not the best) of all time.
I know a lot of people say he plays "too clean" almoast with no human touch. It somewhat is true, since the guitar he plays is different from all other guitars out there, giving a specific "synthezised" sound, or very clean sound. However, the phrases of his playing are simply incredible! And how about playing 2 guitarists at once! Just think about what he achieved for this instrument... Simply, buy his album - you will see it by yourself. -peter

Jordan Amazes with Cover of Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby",
By A Customer
This review is from: Magic Touch (Audio CD)
Stanley Jordan's cover of the famous Beatles' tune is simply incredible. It's difficult to keep in mind that there is only one guitar playing; such is the genius of Stanley Jordan. He takes two-hand tapping technique to a new level on the first cut. The only downside is that the rest of the album pales in comparison, even though it's still quite good.

Great music - get this one!,

I got his CD back in 1989 and I STILL like to hear it from time to time. Everything's here; from upbeat cuts to "misty-mood" music (The Lady in My Life). Stanley is a musical genius.

"MAGIC INDEED",
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Magic Touch (Audio CD)
Every great musician has his or her own unique quality that sets them apart from all their peers. Thelonious Monk had his baffling style of piano playing, Jimi Hendrix made distortion in his Fender Strat a trademark, recording artists Take 6 made six part harmony appear simple. Now there's yet another name to add to the list of extraordinary talents--Stanley Jordan. "Magic Touch" is appropiately named. From the moment it begins with the colossal remake of 'The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby", you are introduced to the ridiculous skills of Jordan. The sounds of what could easily be mistaken for 2 or 3 guitars have all derived from one. His display of talent continues on tracks like "'Round Midnight" (my personal favorite) and "Lady of My Life". If you are a serious jazz lover or even a casual listener, "Magic Touch" is a must have. A sparkling debut album for one of the most amazing guitar players I have ever heard.

THE TRU PIONEER OF MUSIC 2DAY,

Stanley Jordan's Vibe Guitar playing is such powerful and more unique. Love how he did his thing on the Michael Jackson piece THE LADY OF MY LIFE which is one of my favorite. I first bought this last year and it didn't disappoint me at all. I thought it was kinda wack and a lil soggy in between but now it's good tho even tho it's recommendarily a jazz classic to date. He 'specially does good on other songs I like are Round Midnight and Freddie Freeloader to name a few I believe. He's such a great spirit and a wonderful. Hope he'll put out more in the future.

Stanley Jordan is the best ever guitar player of our time. He doesn't get the recognition he so richly deserves! He is truly a genius. To have a Stanley Jordan CD in your possession is to truly have a precious gem. Well worth the money to listen to him. He will take you to a dreamland and beyond.

Best Guitarist That Ever Lived With Failed Recognition!,
By Michael Tomlin (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Magic Touch (Audio CD)
Every couple of nights I listen to his music that is spiritual. The influence of Stanley Jordan will be remembered for hundred of years to come. He will be remember as one of the best jazz players of all time. The problem is most Jazz folks have to die while this cat is alive and he could make a million people stand up with a tear in their eyes now. He is humble. He is kind. Yes, there maybe a few guitarists that try to get the most of the guitar, but put them against Mr. Jordan and find out what will happen. Mr. Jordan will wipe out any guitarist. The problem is he is starting to hide in obscurity and if you love his work, find out ways to bring him into popularity again. Write the newspapers to run an article, write music or guitar magazines, write, e-mails, faxes....let us show the world that if there is one better guitarist out there in the world that they need to prove it. Buy his stuff...but promote him. I swear in 35 years, there has never been a more graceful, peaceful, hardworking guitarist in the world. He came to the cross-road...walked right past it and said I am already too great for all this nonesense....now it is up to us to prove him right. TAKE ACTION
