Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

A cup, a compass, a key: the magic tree house has brought siblings Annie and Jack to Camelot, where they embark on a mysterious mission to find these enigmatic gifts. In this special hardcover addition to the bestselling Magic Tree House series, the young adventurers must travel to the Otherworld, an "ancient, enchanted land beyond the edge of the Earth, the place where all magic began" to save Camelot from dark wizard Mordred's evil spell. If they fail, Camelot will be forgotten forever. Fans of the beloved, highly readable series by Mary Pope Osborne will rise to the challenge of this longer, more complex companion to her other titles, which include Earthquake in the Early Morning and Twister on Tuesday. As in every story in the sequence, Jack and Annie bravely plunge into their quest, learning about a culture and time very far removed from their own, and prove once again that children can make a difference. (Ages 6 to 9) --Emilie Coulter --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Third Grade Teacher & Parent, November 8, 2001

Mary Pope Osborne has done it again! The adventurous Jack and Annie travel in their tree house to a time where King Arthur, Queen Guinevere and the Knights of the Round Table need help in keeping the magic and spirit of Camelot alive. The author has done her research in order to create the adventure of a time long ago, yet readable for today's children. Magic and beasts arise, but good prevails due to Jack and Annie's persistance!
A good read aloud or independent read.

A great title in a long list of great, series books! As a third grade teacher, I cannot recommend these books enough! The repetition or similarity of themes, characters, and plot make it very easy for children to utilize comprehension strategies. They can easily predict what will happen, understand the characters, and thoroughly enjoy the stories! YEAH!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book of the Entire Series!!!!!!!!!!!, July 24, 2004
A Kid's Review
I'm 12, and I LOVED this book! It's not much different than the rest of the series, but Christmas in Camelot gave a different feel. In Magic Tree House books 1-28, the books are all about history and facts about the world, and Jack and Annie (the main characters) are sent on missions by the Tree House's owner: Morgana le Fay, a librarian who travels through time with the tree house to collect books for Camelot's library. In this book, Mary Pope Osborne (the author of the Magic Tree House Series) sends Jack and Annie to Camelot on Christmas day to help save the city. Now with a mix of mythical and magical tales from different countries, this book is filled with things from myths from places like Ireland, Scotland, Britian,Wales and other countries. This book, and the newest books called: Merlin Missions, help introduce kids to folklore, King Arthur and his Knights, and myths that many kids would consider boring or dumb...which they aren't!

I loved this book, and I'm excited to read more of the newest Magic Tree House books that (hopfully!) are coming soon. Thanks.
