About the Author

MARY POPE OSBORNE and NATALIE POPE BOYCE are sisters who grew up on army posts all over the world. They are working on more Magic Tree House® Fact Tracker books to give Magic Tree House readers facts and information about places, time periods, and animals that Jack and Annie discover in the Magic Tree House adventures.

Mary lives in Connecticut. Natalie makes her home nearby in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. Mary is the author of all the Magic Tree House fiction titles as well as many more books for kids.

SAL MURDOCCA has illustrated more than 200 children's trade and text books. He is also a librettist for children'sopera, a video artist, an avid runner, hiker, and bicyclist, and a teacher of children's illustration at the Parsons School of Design. Sal lives and works in New York with his wife, Nancy.

This research guide was purchased for my classroom. In the first week I had it available, six students were on the waiting list to check it out. Once again Mr. and Mrs. Osborne have provided a teacher/student friendly support book for a Magic Tree House book.

On the 'Arctic Circle' map part of Russia (page 17) is mislabeled as 'Iceland'. On this map you can find Iceland on page 16, between Greenland and UK. I think that it is important for a research guide. I didn't mean to write the book review though... Great book!

This book started out okay and then resorted to recruiting kids to the cause of unfounded scientific propaganda. Basically, "Help us save the Polar Bears that are dying off because of man-caused Global Warming". No mention of the fact that currently the Polar Bear population is roughly 15 times the size it was in the early 70's. Sounds like heading for extinction to me.........
