From Booklist

Gr. 2-4. Beginning with volume 29, Christmas in Camelot (2001), each volume in the Magic Tree House series has been called "A Merlin Mission." While still featuring Jack and Annie in time-travel adventures, the books are now longer than those in the original set. In this story, Merlin challenges the children to find the Magician of Sound, the Magician of Light, the Magician of the Invisible, and the Magician of Iron at the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. Readers will find the tale and the many dramatically lit illustrations equally satisfying. Carolyn Phelan

5.0 out of 5 stars What a amazing book!, March 17, 2006
A Kid's Review
Night of the New Magicians was one of my favorite Magic Treehouse books. The story was about Jack and his little sister Annie going to the time of Paris World's Fair,1889.
Their mission was to find and protect the Magicians of Sound,
Light,Invisible, and Iron from a evil sorcerror. There wasn't
the evil sorcerror at the World's Fair. But it made Jack and
Annie to do their mission more quickly and to use their magic
rhymes from their friends from mythical lands, Teddy and Kathleen, more wisely.I am really exited about the next book 'Blizzard of the Blue Moon'too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best one..., March 30, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read this book with my 7 year old son the same day it came out. He was wildly excited about it, as he has been about all the Magic Tree House books. From a grown-up perspective, however, this was not one of the best books of the series. Yes, it was educational, and my son and I had a good time talking about some of the characters Jack and Annie meet in the book. But the plot seemed a little weaker than usual. The part about the evil sorcerer was strange. I had expected a great revelation at the end: The evil sorcerer is actually ignorance, or superstition, or something along those lines. Instead, the book just fizzled at the end.
Nevertheless, my son has started counting down to the date when the next book is coming out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great from Mary Pope Osborne!, April 17, 2006
My son loves this whole series. If you have not started your child on these for age 5 and up, do so! These are the most interesting books for young kids. And so far the series has seem to grow up with my son. This book lists the scientists such as Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell and others. These books really start a child learning about history. My son is so much into this history of these, it has led him to research on his own through other books about the historical events! We have also read the accompanying research books. The only thing I wish for now, is some children travel guides from Mrs. Osborne (it would be a great add on to the research books!). Thanks so much for these!
