I'm going to say this straight off: the Bomber deck is arguably THE best (next to Way Wild) deck for the Seventh Edition set. Not only does it have a wide array of great and sneakilish cards; such as Ancestral Memories, (rare), Daring Apprentice, (rare), Air Elemental, Merfolk Looter, and of course the lovable Wind Drake and Counterspell, but it does a good job of introducing new players of Magic to many important aspects of the game. Also, some of the cards in Bomber (i.e., Ancestral Memories and Merfolk Looter) work surprisingly well with the new Odyssey block's (Odyssey, Torment and Judgment sets) mechanics, Threshold, Flashback, and Madness. This 40 card deck, complete with TWO rares and a randomly inserted foil land is well worth its value ... and should be strongly considered being added to anyone's collection.

This deck is *designed* for people who are new to Magic, though it has cards useful to all players. Magic is sometimes described as "like chess with thousands of types of pieces, where you choose which pieces you'll play with each game". It does teach strategic thinking, like chess, but Magic is much less abstract, and the game appeals to a broad set of interests (strategy, card games, lots of pictures, tactics, friendly play, collecting, trading). Good for 14ish through adult. My only misgiving is how the artwork seems 75% slanted towards boys.Note that each player needs their own deck/collection; if buying for two people, get a different beginner set (any numbered edition like "6th" or "7th", or "8th" also called "core set"). The non-beginner sets have names like "odyssey" and "onslaught"; these are fine after having played half a dozen games with a basic set. Be warned: one can always use more magic cards in their collection; giving this as a gift could create a monster !-)

If you're a beginner, this is a good deck to start with. It is easy to play, but the cards are not really that good. For the same $10 you could buy a preconstructed deck from one of the expansions. This deck contains only 40 cards, making it not legal in standard type 1 constructed games. The expansion preconstructed decks are much better and have 60 cards as opposed to the 40 in this one.
