Buyer beware!, May 10, 2007
This review is from: The Magical Language of Runes (Paperback)
The key word on the cover is "runes", and many will assume that runes are the major topic of the book. Many will also assume this from the product description. Many may be disappointed.
This set of symbols is the author's own creation, and bears little resemblance to the characters defined by academics, and most other speculative books, as runes, ie the Germanic "Elder Futhark" runes.
Claims that this set is an "older" version of the futhark runes are just not supported by any academic source on runes.
By all means read this book for the Goddess content, which I am sure will inspire many, but be sure to pick up a reliable book on runes first. Any of these will do.

The Language of some runes, August 17, 2006
This review is from: The Magical Language of Runes (Paperback)
While this book was well-written and informative, it dealt with a set of runes that are not as common or familiar to most people. I was hoping that this book would help me understand German runes. The symbols on the runes used by this author were nothing like the set of runes I have. Therefore, I was not able to use the information.

Interesting, not what I was really looking for..., May 31, 2009
This review is from: The Magical Language of Runes (Paperback)
I bought this book as an introducton to runes. It was in many bibliograpies of books I learned from and really enjoyed reading. It doesn't give any symbols or meanings of the runes I had begun working with and that was really surprising, given the title.
However, this is a woman who was born to write, as well as cast. To say I enjoyed her style would be an understatement. I feel I learned a lot about preparing to cast, and how to interpret. This book wasn't what I was looking for, but I still found lots of great ideas and info in it.
