I got this for my daughter last year, when she was 2 yrs old. She's now 3, and this costume has seen quite a bit of action. The material is so smooth and satiny, and they did a great job making it look shimmery without using sequins or glitter. It's comfortable for my daughter to walk around with a roomy mermaid skirt. It's easy to get on and off, simply slips on and there are no velcro or button fasteners. She learned a lot about dressing herself by playing with her costumes, and can put a shirt on right side out and with the tag in the back. These wash and wear well, and I highly recommend this outfit over the more elaborate costumes available.

Yes, this isn't as fancy as the other mermaid costumes on the market, but it's very cute and durable. The fabric is comfortable and it is sewn like real clothing. The other costumes are made really poorly and don't look like they would last many washes. Most importantly, the tail on this costume is not too fancy so I don't have to worry about my child tripping. I bought four other mermaid costumes to try and returned the rest. They looked nicer online, with more details, but either were too dangerous or too annoying because the sparkles and sequins kept falling off. This costume is simple, durable, and cute. I would definitely recommend it. It's also nice that your child can wear the two pieces separately. The only suggestion I would make to the manufacturer is to make the waistband adjustable because the skirt was a bit loose for my child. I added two on the sides myself.
Great material, great quality. Not itchy at all. My 3 year old can get in it easily (and out of it when she'll agree to!)
