Acid Mothers Temple-'Magical Power From Mars'(Important),
By
This review is from: Magical Power From Mars (Audio CD)
At last! The three hard-to-find umteen minute singles from AMT tagged onto one CD release.A great disc, but I was NOT going to purchase these three singles separately.I simply don't care to own ANY disc with merely fifteen minutes of music - a pure waste of a CD.Always hoped that the band would indeed release the three together and apparently my patience had paid off.'Magical Power...' gives the loyal AMT fan yet ANOTHER healthy dose of their trademark hard-hitting(in the face) psychedelic space rock. The third track,"Aladdin Kane" is probably the best cut here. Also a decent bonus tune has been added "Cosmic Funky Dolly".This title will most likely go fast.Worth adding to your collection.

What an amazing choice for my 1st AMT experience...,

First off this is 4 and a half, as there are no partials. This is a modern classic yes. I remember hearing about these guys in the NY Press this past year when they played in NY. My ears lifted up when it was said that they play psychedelic freak out space rock bliss and are from Japan to boot. Well, upon first listen to the opening cut the searing spa ce raga "Ziggy Sitar Dust Raga" I knew I had found it!! The entire album is an exploration of the Other World, a term once used by the late Dr. Timothy Leary. This was also a speacial treat as these tracks were previously unavailable. All I knew was that they took me on space flight and have the power to truly give you out of body experience. Use of kind bud or entheogens are optional, but if listened to without the aids it's still a mystical transcendence and easily the best psychedelia I've heard since the original Sonic Youth and [...] Surfers acid days. I put this on tonight following a Phish show from 4/30/93. It flowed ceasslessley. Phish is my favorite band still but since they are gone, for now, AMT have kicked in the door waving the .44 and I PRAY they don't become a frat boy favorite and explode like Phish did in the mid 90's. Sure I love MSG shows but I believe AMT would need to be experienced in a small venue, say the size of BB Kings in NY. I just missed them in Bklyn and am pissed, hadda throw this on! A near perfect album kiddies. Listen but keep the secret ours, I can't picture a parking lot scene being created around Acid Mother Temple shows. But ah hell smoke a bone to this!
