Book Description

September 8, 2002

Learn how to do powerful, practical magic when you use candles and call on the saints in Reverend Ray T. Malbrough's The Magical Power of the Saints.

This book can be your personal guide to help you call on the saints as your spiritual allies. You will learn how to work with seventy-four different saints through the use of "seven-day vigil candles" (saint candles), prayers, psalms, herbal baths, and more. For example, you would call on Saint Benedict (whose candle color is white and day of the week is Saturday) to help end fevers, heal sick animals and more. You might call on Our Lady of Charity (whose candle color is yellow and day of the week is also Saturday) for protection of the home and family, to bring a new lover, or to obtain better finances. But The Magical Power of the Saints includes much more:

Find out which saint can best help you for any situation, along with that saint's specific day of the week and color of candle

Learn rituals for fifty-seven different situations-such as attracting good fortune, strengthening your marriage, and improving your business

Use divination to discover which ingredients will summon the proper   powers to help you in any specific situation

Locate passages in the Bible that support the practice of divination

Learn how to use prayer to honor your departed ancestors and communicate with them

Discover the best way to prepare and use the saint candles

Recite the correct biblical psalm for your specific need

Read messages in a candle flame to see if your prayers will be answered

The Magical Power of the Saints includes over forty-five illustrations of saints to help you in your work. For powerful, practical magic, get The Magical Power of the Saints.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

I want to share a bit of the story behind The Magical Power of the Saints by Reverend Ray T. Malbrough.

When the world was Pagan, people presented offerings to the deities along with petitions and prayers. Often this involved a bonfire or flame from an oil lamp or candle. Christianity brought its own version of the deities, but some systems such as Santeria, Condomble, and Voudun refused to abandon the old gods and goddesses. They worshiped them under the guise of the Christian saints.

The saints took on the characteristics of the Pagan deities with special days of the week, candles of a particular color, and rulership over certain problems and occupations. The belief in a saint's ability to intercede on the petitioner's behalf continues among many people to this day. Now you can find out how to use ancient techniques to call on the saints for help when you read The Magical Power of the Saints.

In The Magical Power of the Saints you will find a guide to seventy-four saints and their attributes. Learn how to evoke them for practical help in your life through prayer, candle burning, and divination. Whether you want more peace, a new love, a better job, more money, or any of several dozen more goals, you can start by getting The Magical Power of the Saints.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, May 24, 2005
By
Root Worker (Mentone Alabama) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Magical Power of the Saints: Evocation and Candle Rituals (Paperback)
This is the second book by Malbrough. This is the better of the three available on the market, though it is somewhat new agey like his other books. It seems like the author got started writing a book on working with the saints but either got sidetracked or ran out of information. The first part of the book has pictures of the saints with brief descriptions of them, but many of the commonly used saints are not present. The information given is brief. The second chapter discusses divination appearing throughout the bible. Its not bad. There is a section them on various brand candles. These candles are very common in hoodoo but many of them have nothing to do with the saints. The author presents some commentary on his own initiation as a diviner, and then some reproductions of certficates he obtained. This is part of the reason I think he ran out of information. It might have been that he had a contract for a certain number of pages and used some things as filler, though thats just a guess. In particular the author includes a certificate he earned in "Bucklands Seax Wicca" school. This has NOTHING to do with working the saints and deffinently alludes to the authors new age style. All in all its not a terriblebook for the price but I wouldn't buy it new if used copies are available for sale.

3.0 out of 5 stars Magic is as Magic does!, September 23, 1998
By
This review is from: The Magical Power of the Saints: Evocation and Candle Rituals (Paperback)
If you are looking for a how-to guide for calling upon the saints as your personal allies, this book just might start you in the right direction. The author--whose background includes Santeria, Wicca, spiritualism, voodoo and shamanism--introduces you to 74 different saints, and explains how you can reach them through ritual. The book opens with a brief overview of saints and deities, including capsule identification of each saint--such as name, feast day, weekday, emblem, color of candle, areas of protection and association. In addition, an image of the saint is provided. Following this are general discussions of the power of rituals and magic, and how these can assist you. However, the majority of the book is given over to providing you with candle rituals and incantations for 57 different situations, such as improving your marriage, attracting fortune, improving your business, calming anger, conquering infidelity, obtaining spiritual strength, etc. Each of the rituals includes appropriate references to the Psalms of the Bible, and other key steps for success. Also included are a bibliography for further reading, and an index.

3.0 out of 5 stars it's okay...., December 5, 2002
This review is from: The Magical Power of the Saints: Evocation and Candle Rituals (Paperback)
Although as an Omo Ochun, I embrace the Future of my Orisha, but I can not let go of the past of my Santos. In my home both the Orisha / Supreme Guardian Angels as well as the Santos are well respected. This book is good, but to be honest with you, most of the information in this book has been passed down to me, by my mother and grandparent. None of the information was new to me. I read the book in less than a few hours, as it was just a brush down of everything passed down to me.

But to those who's parents are not Curanderas, or Santeras, this will be a neat book. You will finally get an understanding of what those fancy candles sold in Botanicas and what they are used for. The Section of the Saints is nice, but you can find better info in one of those Catholic Saints Dictionaries.

The Psalms of the Bibles, section is okay. The Psalms are very powerful prayers and invocation. This is just a quick reference; there are better books out there on the subject.

This book is okay, if you do not know the information, I guess this book would be helpful, if not, save your [money]
