I am a professional angel communicator who uses angel oracle cards on a regular basis. When I first saw this deck, I was a little unsure of why I would want a deck of spell cards, since I do not cast spells. But when I actually looked through an open deck, I was blown away by the great artwork and positive, uplifting energy of the deck! There is an instruction booklet and information for how to cast a spell for each card. However, I have simply used the deck as an oracle tool amd have had profound results! It is easy and fun to give yourself and others very accurate readings with the cards. All of the cards are positive, uplifting, healing and inspiring, and work well with angel decks (i.e. Healing with the Angels by Doreen Virtue, Messages from Your Angels by Doreen Virtue).

Even if you are not into casting spells, you can still really enjoy using this deck as an oracle tool! I highly recommend it, especially if you enjoy using angel decks. They also can make a great gift.

First, let me comment on the packaging. Like other decks by Hay House, the cards themselves are sturdy, and come packaged in an equally sturdy, attractive box, in which the booklet also fits. After purchasing a few decks with thin cards and large, flimsy boxes or none at all, this is a nice change. The cards are well protected, compact, and portable.

The cards are so pretty! Even the backs of the cards are pretty. An important part of any oracle deck is that one likes the illustrations, and the cards are simply lovely to look at.

There are no frightening messages here. You can shuffle and pull a card to see what message the Universe has for you. The cards are: Aphrodite's Love Spell, Abundance, Beauty, Justice, Letting Go, Wisdom, Destiny, Peace, Authenticity, Passion, Success, Energy, Friendship, Glamor, Joy, Courage, Best Possible Decision, Isis Inspiration, Grace, Mermaid Magic Seduction, Safe Travel, Romance, Magical Powers, Good Cheer, "True Love Come to Me", Harmony, Knowledge, Healing, Health, Trust, Confidence, Creativity, Strength, Victory, Study, Fertility, Divine Guidance, Safe Home Protection, Psychic Protection, Imagination, Organization, Harvest, and New Beginnings. The booklet has an explanation of what drawing each card means, as well as how to work with the energy depicted in that card if one does want to do spell work. The spells are simple and totally positive, and the author urges that one work responsibly with this and realize that there are consequences to what you do.

The booklet also contains advice on how to use the spell cards, how to create sacred space, and it gives magical correspondences of days of the week and some essential oils, magical properties of some herbs, the magical meaning of colors, the phases of the moon and their magical meanings, and the magical law of "three times three".

I highly recommend this deck. I think I am going to enjoy working with it.

At first I hesitated about getting these cards because of the title, but the artwork pulled me in and I decided to try them. I am so glad I did! Although, I am not a Wiccan, you don't have to be to enjoy these cards. The "spells" are are not what you might think. In addition to the overview of the meaning of each card, the corresponding spell is just a gentle way to enhance what you want to achieve. The artwork and colors are just beautiful. Very uplifting and joyful!!

I am not wiccan and I've never practiced spellcasting - still, these cards intrigued me. As another reviewer stated, they can easily be used even if you do not intend to practice the spells. The cards all have beautiful pictures and a key word that corresponds to an area of life (ie. romance, organization, divine guidance, etc.). The cards can easily be used as an oracle tool to find out what areas of life we should be focusing one. Also, many of the "spells" are pretty easy - and could be incorporated as a little ritual to help guide your energy to that area of life. Also, if you are interested in any type of witchcraft, but are a little apprehensive, I suppose these cards would do well as a lighthearted, yet powerful, introduction.

The Magical Spell Cards by Lucy Cavendish (beautifully illustrated by Jesse Reisch) provides specific areas of focus for performing spell work, and users can either choose a card at random or pick consciously according to the issue at hand.

The 111-page companion booklet describes the purpose of the spells and the issues each addresses, as well as a simple spell to perform. The author also shares how to create a sacred space, care for your Magical Spells Cards, and perform spells with positive intention. Ms. Cavendish says that spells motivated by positive intentions encourage true change, growth, and self-development.

The instruction booklet also provides information relevant to spell work, including:

Each card features billowy borders in hues of blue, lavender, peach, ochre, pink, and sea foam green. Colorful and arresting, the central card image pertains to the subject of the spell, and the meanings are easy to look up since each card is numbered.

Incredibly accurate, Magical Spell Cards aid individuals with focusing intent, generating energy, and creating a receptive atmosphere for empowerment. Although I found this deck quite insightful and spot on (I used the random method of card selection), the ingredients and components of the spells themselves could be problematic for some users. If you're a regular worker of spells, with numerous herbs, oils, fabrics, crystals, threads, and candles on hand, you should be just fine. However, for those without such accoutrements, you may find the "recipes" challenging to perform.

For example, Spell Card 32 Confidence requires a simple spell, but calls for one sprig each of oregano, basil, rosemary and sage--bound at one end with red, orange, and sky-blue thread. Spell Card 22 Safe Travel recommends, "Take a silver ribbon, and, on a map, pin the ribbon along the traveler's route from departure to arrival and back again. Then, in a blue pouch, place a silver coin, one seashell, leaves from a lemon tree, and some earth from your home."

Of course, you can always choose to visualize such spells, but if you feel that the "right" way to spell craft requires all recommended elements, then you may feel a bit challenged if you don't have a lot of paraphernalia on hand.

An attractive deck, Magical Spell Cards is a great companion along the magical journey, providing straightforward spells and points of focus for meditation, clarity, and manifestation.

I mainly interpret dreams and use tarot decks such as Motherpeace and Kris Waldherr's Goddess Tarot as well as the runes. I picked up this deck at the recommendation of a friend.

I must say I don't use it often, but when I do the cards I draw resonate well with what's going on in my life and within me. I rarely "cast spells" these days, as I learned early on that magic can and should be an ongoing practice that can be done any time, anywhere with or without herbs, oils, candles and an altar. I'll admit that I've used the deck on most occasions with no intention of working a spell. Some of the suggested rituals can be done with no frills and others require a few doodads or specific days of the week, moon cycles, dew on the grass, etc. If you are serious about using this deck to plan your spellwork, it might be helpful to use it close to the time you want to do your working. For instance, if I draw a card on Sunday that suggests I do the spell on Thursday, I doubt that I'll make that effort.

The artwork on the cards is unique and the messages are insightful. Cavendish also includes useful information. I have small hands and the cards are just a little too big for me to shuffle them easily. This deck is a nice change from traditional tarot and a nice addition to the magical cabinet.

A new way to look at and perform spellwork, fabulous! I wanted something new and interesting to compliment and/or break the monotony of my many decks of traditional Tarot cards, and felt drawn to this deck immediately. The cards are gorgeous simply to look at and the spells are wonderful. They are accessable to anyone, positive, useful and enjoyable. It's one of the best types of these decks I've run across and I wish I'd found it sooner! I love the portability; I can take it anywhere & always have a spell handy to use for self improvement or practice. The companion book is much more detailed and well-written than I expected. The author's brief but very useful tips and techniques are exemplary and I'm thinking of looking into her other work as well. I've already recommended this deck to my friends who like these types of oracles and think it's a useful tool for anyone's practice. Enjoy!

The cards are great. I read the book that comes with and did what it said. I have been learning new spells, but now I also have a way to find out what to do on a current problem. The cards are beautiful, good quality made. And I have help alot of friends too. And don't forget that these cards are hard to find in alot places that sell tarot cards. I'm very pleased with them. I know you will be too

I don't cast spells. I am a professional angel reader and psychologist who uses oracle decks regularly. This deck is warm, inviting and uplifting and works well as an oracle. The imagery reminds me of Harry Potter like cartoon artwork. I just got them and already asked three different questions. This deck would be great for a beginner or advanced reader. Again, Cavendish has to commended for being so positive in her approach to life and its issues.

This Deck really is Magical! The moment I opened the box I fell in love with it. Images are very different than most of the Oracle Cards, very earthy and warm images. Readings are Spookily Accurate! I am not into spellcasting but this does not stop me from using the Deck. I am sure you will fall in love with it. Lucy has done an outstanding job!
