5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I really enjoyed The Magician's Way. I considered giving it four stars instead of five due to its brevity, but realized that would be unfair to the author as parsimony may well have been his aim.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to know what to think
I was all enthused about this book due to a recommendation. Indeed it started out well, seeming to offer great advice. Perhaps some of it is great, but then it took a turn for the worse. The author suddenly presents himself/his character as a bit naive, not to mention not the nicest person in the world considering how he behaved despite being a married man...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, October 20, 2009
This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
I really enjoyed The Magician's Way. I considered giving it four stars instead of five due to its brevity, but realized that would be unfair to the author as parsimony may well have been his aim.

The book revolves around Seven Secrets of Magic. As someone who had studied the Golden Dawn and related traditions of magic(k), I must say this book does not stem from such traditions. Instead, this book is more about attaining an inner alchemical transformation that will bring about radical external changes and, thus, it rests squarely in the New Thought tradition. This is not to its discredit, however. Of all the New Thought-related books I've ever read, this one stands out as perhaps the very best. The "seven secrets" listed within its pages are wonderful and should be contemplated at length. Fortunately, all seven secrets are listed separately in the back with succinct descriptions for easy review.

This is one of those books that will probably deliver as much as you are willing to put into it, but I don't know of any books that aren't within that category. If you want to start making some changes in your life and have that nagging feeling that you might have to do some inner work before you can manifest those changes, this book will prepare you to go one further and manifest a life that is better than what you are capable of dreaming for yourself.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to know what to think, November 10, 2008
I was all enthused about this book due to a recommendation. Indeed it started out well, seeming to offer great advice. Perhaps some of it is great, but then it took a turn for the worse. The author suddenly presents himself/his character as a bit naive, not to mention not the nicest person in the world considering how he behaved despite being a married man.

I assumed that this turn for the worse would resolve by the end of the book, but it didn't. The finale just leaves the reader wondering how such an incredibly improbable outcome could occur, because there's no explanation. How come his wife and the uber-stripper he was slightly unfaithful with are hanging out happily together in the nuddy with his kids, plus the investor big wig and his golf coach? How do they even know each other? Is it supposed to communicate that the whole huge ride was some kind of brilliantly, impossibly coordinated 'intervention' by friends and strangers?

So I'm glad I read it, but by the end I started to doubt the validity of the entire tome of advice. I feel a bit left in the air by it all, rather than clear about how to move forward.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Adrenalin Rush, November 27, 2009
By
Debbie Dey-Henton (Kawerau, Bay Of Plenty New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
Many books provide moments of adrenalin rush here and there but this is the first book I have read that I physically felt my adrenalin constantly increase as I read. It is one of those books that you pick up and don't put down unless you have to.
Yes it is a modern day Celestine Prophecy but less esoteric and therefore more practical and readable. Even my 10 and 12 year old children were able to enjoy pieces I read to them. So much that they requested I purchase potatoes and straws in my next shop so they could try the trick themselves. We are trying it right now. Oh my God I so just did it!!! I held the potato in my right hand the straw in my left and visualised the potato with a straw through it. I kept my eyes closed and remembered everything is part of God so if I became one with the potato I can breathe in the straw like it's supposed to be there and when I opened my eyes I had put the straw through the potato! Honestly I just did this! We even got it on video!
This book definitely makes you believe you are capable of anything you put your mind to.

5.0 out of 5 stars You too can BE a Magician! and create a magical life, October 4, 2009
This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
What's the key to becoming a Magician? To follow your heart myth. What's this I hear you ask? Well you need to read William Whitecloud's book 'The Magician's Way' and you'll find out more.

A friend suggested this book to me and I remember the energy that I experienced when I received it. It sensed a valuable 'key' had been placed into my hands, even before I had read a single word. My intuition was telling me so and I was right! For indeed the book is all about listening to your intuition. I devoured the book in one reading, so readable is William's book you can't put it down! You instantly become involved in the story.

A wonderful adventure that draws you into it in an enchanting way (that's magic, heh!!). Yet at the same time the book is so full of wisdom and insight. You feel your awareness transforming you as you travel through each exciting chapter.

William Whitecloud gives you a 'living' experience of magic and that is the most powerful way to bring about true transformation, wouldn't you agree? It marks the success of a great book. My life has transformed in many magical ways since I have read it and things I could never have imagined have opened up for me in my life. That's because I now believe Magic is always happening, if I take the time to notice it.

It's true! Magic exists, and 'The Magician's Way' shares how you too can become a Magician in your life.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read, April 19, 2011
This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
Although, as a woman, I found the perspective especially male, even this was rather intriguing. Kind of like being a fly on the wall.
By the end of the story, I found it hard to put the book down.
Philosophically, it made me feel lighter and is helping me to dis-empower some of the thoughts and feelings I know do not serve me well.
I am realizing, as I get older, that other people, places and things are not where our sanctuary resides. To expect this makes for unnecessary challenges for all. The Magician's Way is a great lesson is what inner bliss really means....in a 'tell it like it is' way. I really appreciated that.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Will Change Your Life, October 3, 2009
This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
You can go your entire life looking for that special book that has it all. The book that will change your life forever. Open your heart. Transform you even.

Like the Holy Grail, it's the book we seek that's full of promise. It's like looking for a magic bullet. Does it really exist? Why not!

The Magician's Way by William Whitecloud comes very, very close to it.
It is brilliant; It's unique; And it's mind-blowing!!!

Anyone interested in creating a life they would love needs to read this. If you are interested in things like `The Secret' and subject matter like the laws of attraction you must read this book. The Magician's Way is like The Secret on steroids. Really, it goes way beyond it.

When I read The Magician's Way, I couldn't put it down. I pretty much read it in one sitting. It was like I got pulled into the book as the story unfolded. It was more than just being captivated by this story. I became the main character. I went on this incredible life changing ride in his shoes that opened my eyes to my own greater truth. By the end of the book I sensed I had changed somehow. It opened my heart . An exciting new world had suddenly appeared.

I know that may sound over the top to some of you. But it's true. The Magician's Way profoundly touched me. It's as the saying goes, `the truth will set you free'. What I experienced reading this book was exactly that.
Simply put, The Magician's Way teaches you how to transform your outer world by changing your inner world. The book contains a series of lessons. The author calls them "The Seven Secrets Of Magic". They are powerful lessons and I have found them to be very practical.

Since reading it, I have made many changes in my life. The `Seven Secrets Of Magic' have proven to come in handy on a daily basis. These lessons have helped me to create what I want, what I love. I'm eternally grateful to the author for this book.

I couldn't recommend a better book than The Magician's Way. I loved it. You will too!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars review, December 20, 2009
By
This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
I read this book in 2007, having found it on the website of the psychologist I had decided to see to do something about my profound lack of interest in living.
I read it in one sitting, all the while thinking `this is not a very good book' but being compelled to read it anyway - I have since changed my mind too, it's a very good book.
Finding it was the beginning of what has become a complete and utter change in my life and how I perceive myself. I did some Magician's Way courses as well & have come from being virtually paralysed by a lifetime of self loathing and largely untreated depression and anxiety, to a place where I can say that I am no longer anxious or depressed and I actually think I'm ok.
I'm also seeing the world with new eyes and it's a wonderful place.
I know that I can never go back to how or who I was before and I don't fear that I will either. The Magician's Way is not a fly by night feel good for 2 weeks then fall apart again philosophy - it's real, it works and it's amazing.
If you're just thinking about buying this book...don't hesitate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open your eyes...Open your heart!, May 10, 2010

This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
Truly an awesome and life changing book! Through extensive reading and personal contemplation, I was very close to reaching many of these same understandings, but this astonishing book was like the missing link that tied everything together and provided a bridge between mere understanding and actually knowing how to live life based on that knowledge.

There is no deep dark secret to magic, it is simply awakening to the magic that is all around us, and then trusting that your true self knows what it really wants. Everything your soul could ever need or want is already there, waiting for you to choose to see it! This simple but profound book shows you the way to do just that.

With graduation season upon us, The Magician's Way would make a wonderful gift for any graduating high school or college student. I can't think of a better gift to our youth - who hold our future in their hands, than encouraging them to live from their heart and create the life of their dreams. This book will show them how.

I look at the world in a whole different way since reading this book. Every day is a magical adventure, once you open your heart and begin to live from it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Call to action, May 3, 2010

This review is from: The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure (Paperback)
This book was a call to action for me - it rings with truth, page after page so that my whole heart shouted 'YES' by the end. The revised edition has a more powerful ending and some of the chapters have been polished to make it even harder to put down. It has answers that resonate with the very core of my being that I had forgetten until the book recalled them. It is also a fondation for a greater adventure that all of us should undertake if we are to find our own true treasure. - Guy Thornycroft. The Magician's Way: What It Really Takes to Find Your Treasure
