5.0 out of 5 stars Even a non-Pagan can understand it, May 26, 2009
This review is from: Magick for the Kitchen Witch (Paperback)
I recently received this book from a Pagan friend and I love it. It's simple to understand, and I see a lot of old wives' tales in it. Being Southern I grew up (and still do) a lot of Kitchen Magick and not even know it. It was very interesting to see where some of the things came from and to learn a little magic along the way. I would say that if you are into magic or simple like to learn new things, then this is the book for you. You can learn a little candle magic or knot magic or even Witch bottles all from the point-of-view from the kitchen (which is the heart of any home).

You don't have to be a witch or even pagan to enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Reccomended!, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Magick for the Kitchen Witch (Paperback)
As someone who is always searching for new concepts and ideas on her journey down the pagan path - I was delighted with this book. I have attempted on many occasions to wade through magical books laden with technical terms only to find myself unable to push beyond the dry, dead prose of the writer. This book however, with a comfortable voice and a wealth of interesting facts on legends, herbs and folklore, taught me so much about my chosen path, and opened me up to many new ideas. It was not only an informative read, but enjoyable as well! It is my belief that this book would be a great addition to ANY metaphysical library and belongs on the shelf of every Kitchen Witch - no matter the experience (or inexperience) of the practitioner! I was shocked to read the negative review posted - Magick for the Kitchen Witch was obviously painstakingly researched and lovingly crafted by an extremely knowledgeable Witch. To attack this book in such a way strikes me as a personal vendetta against the author - which begs the question - if this reviewer is such an expert on the pagan way - why is this person endangering their karma to such a degree by putting such a blatantly negative personal attack out into the universe? The tags attached to this book are obviously extremely inaccurate and a very sad and childish attempt by a very small minded individual to keep this book out of the hands of people who would benefit from and enjoy this work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful for the folklore alone! Good for folks of any faith!, July 9, 2010
This review is from: Magick for the Kitchen Witch (Paperback)
You really don't have to be into magick to find this book helpful. I received it as a gift, and I have been using it ever since. I am a born-again Christian, not a pagan or Wiccan or such, but Deanna's herbal remedies in this book have been very helpful to me. When I was at university I majored in literature such as myth, legends, fairytales, folktales and folklore and I really enjoyed the historical info she gave. In addition, when I began adapting some of the "spells" for my own beliefs, I found myself challenged to go outside the box and reach new depths in my spiritual life! This author has a very light breezy voice so this book is an easy read too...you don't feel like you're wading through a textbook;neither does she really push her beliefs...she is very respectful of all faiths.
