Book Description

August 4, 2008
"With glue & scissors, glitter & glass—create all the crafts to make the magick last! for festival or birthday, full moon or sun - with this book your adventure's begun! Filled with fun and fancy, wisdom and wit, add it right now to your witch's kit!" —Patricia Telesco, author of Kitchen Witch's Guide to Brews and Potions and Which Witch is Which?

"No matter what Pagan path we're on, [you] can enjoy Magickal Crafts. The traditions from the Madden and Roberts households are tried and true, too. When people ask me what books besides my own I can recommend, Magickal Crafts will be high on my list. When you buy this book for your own library, think about buying a second copy, so you can loan one to friends and keep the other within reach at all times." —Ashleen O'Gaea, author of Raising Witches and Celebrating the Seasons of Life(Vol. 1, Samhain to Ostara; and Vol. 2, Beltane to Mabon)

"Adults and children will love sharing these projects, and you will return to this indispensable volume of ideas time and again as the years spiral by. From making masks to herbal soaps, from floating candles to pumpkin muffins, there is no better way to celebrate together, while becoming a deeper part of the year’s rhythms." —Mike Nichols, author of The Witches' Sabbats

More About the Author

Obviously, I'm an author but I am also a homeschooling mom and the Dean of Ardantane's School of Shamanic Studies (www.ardantane.org). I'm a Druid and tutor for the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids and a licensed Avatar Master. In my spare time (hahahaha), I rehabilitate wild birds and co-lead a children's peace group.

I was raised in a shamanic home of spiritual explorers. Since 1972, I have been trained in a variety of Eastern and Western mystic paths and New Age technologies. I live with my wonderful family and assorted (and ever-changing) menagerie of creatures in the desert Southwest.

3.0 out of 5 stars almost no plans or photos, December 5, 2005

There are a lot of ideas but they are mostly very simple sort of Middle-school crafts and there are no color photos. About 90% of the projects have no photo or plan at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Imaginative, and Magickal, December 14, 2005

While I would have preferred to see photos of everything, there were more than enough on the cover and inside, plus plenty of good illustrations to help me make even the most challenging of the crafts I've tried so far. And there are soooo many neat ideas in this book. Some really are simple enough for my kids but there are several that I never would have thought to try myself and I'm pretty crafty.

I made the coolest "Pointy Hat" using the embossed velvet technique. My friends all want me to make them pointy hats now! And I never would have tried stone carving or drum making without this book.

I also love all the background on the crafts and the meditations, exercises, spells, and even songs. It's become one of my favorite craft books already!

Great ideas for kids, but the publishers should have allowed photos!
