5.0 out of 5 stars Magik 6 - Pure Magic!!!
Hands down one of the greatest trance albums of all time, if not the GREATEST!!! Magik 6 is certainly an album to lose yourself in, and certainly never gets old. From start to finish the listener is encaptured with hypnotic beats and melodic rhythms, and would definitely make any clubber wish they were on the dance floor (especially at this live set from Amsterdam)...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but it has some inherent problems
I'm a big fan of DJ Tiesto. However, I'm not terribly impressed with his Magik series, and let me tell you why.

As you can see in the tracklisting, each Magik release has about 15-16 tracks. Now, I don't know about you, but when so many different songs (and they ARE different) are crammed into one collection, I get the feeling that the mix somehow loses its flavor, its...

Hands down one of the greatest trance albums of all time, if not the GREATEST!!! Magik 6 is certainly an album to lose yourself in, and certainly never gets old. From start to finish the listener is encaptured with hypnotic beats and melodic rhythms, and would definitely make any clubber wish they were on the dance floor (especially at this live set from Amsterdam). Tiesto immediately grabs the listener with Afterburn's 'Fratty Boy' previewing what is entailed. Before the album reaches its peak half way through with the ever popular 'Silence' by Delerium, its introduced with 'Purple Cloud' by The Swimmer (very hypnotic). Cloud 69's 'Sixty Nine Ways' has one of the best breakdown/buildups I've ever heard, and Push's 'Til We Meet Again' is a track the listener will never forget. Not many other albums can compare to this, with the exception of Disc 2 of Paul Oakenfold's 'Resident: 2 Years of Oakey at Cream' Album!!! Love ya Tiesto!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Tiesto I'll Ever Buy?, September 9, 2004

I felt I should add yet another 5-star review to the

SLEW of raves already listed. This CD has a powerful-magical

quality that dances somewhere between the dark beats of

Digweed's LA/Hong Kong performances and the melodic

exuberance of Sasha and P. Van Dyk. I disagree with a

few reviews which state that the "live whistling" is

distracting. Not true. It only occurs a few times and

is not at all distracting. As someone who prefers his

electronics vocal-free, I only have to program out one track

from the whole CD: track 7. Otherwise, it's flawless ecstatic

joy. Based on my readings of all other D.J. Tiesto reviews,

I guess this will be the only Tiesto I'll ever purchase,

becuase it seems that all his other CDs are loaded with

vocals???

5.0 out of 5 stars #1 DJ strikes again, November 20, 2003
By A Customer
I almost cried I was so overwhelmed by this CD. Some people may say that it's no good since it's old, but I beg to differ. The "Trance" now days can not compare to this. Tiesto has an uncanny order and flow to his music. There is no doubt in my mind that the series was called Magik on purpose. I give this my top recommendation which is hard earned after listening to Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, and others for years.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're looking for trance experience, get this CD!, August 25, 2003

When I bought In my Memory album's by DJ Tiesto, I thought that would be my only favorite from his works. Then my Magik 6 CD arrive (i had to order it). And I was blown away! still am. I listen to this CD everyday, during work, driving, at home. I know I drive my friends crazy, but what can i say? I am listening to a masterpiece by a trance master/Lord of Trance. I am becoming DJ Tiesto avid fan. I am still waiting for my other Tiesto CDs/DVD order to come (cannot wait!)

What I like about this CD is from the moment you push play button on your CD player, there's no turning back and no skipping track. Every song is great at its own, add to the fact that Tiesto mixed them flawlessly. I cannot choose most favorite cos I love all the tracks in this CD.

Tiesto once said that "the trancemusic is the only music you can listen to without taking drugs. You can really feel the emotions in it. You can get on another level without the drugs." and you know what? It so TRUE. With this CD, Tiesto takes you to another level. Substance free. It works for me...everytime. Feel the music and let your mind flow...it's great. Get this CD now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Live in Amsterdam, January 14, 2003
this cd is one of the best live trance mixs i have ever heard, Tiesto is a great DJ who mixes with style and makes the music one continuous track, the people in the background of the songs yelling and whistling make this cd even better, i love just listening to it while i am driving along the coastline on my way to the beach, every serious trance fan needs to go out and get this cd

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiesto's best cd, December 16, 2001
By A Customer
I love tiesto's work and I admire his ability. He's one of the best dj's in the world, joining the ranks with Oakenfold, and John Digweed. I've bought a lot of his albums, and I haven't been dissapointed with one. I've recently bought In My Memory, and I still think that vol. 6 is the best out of the bunch. The entire cd is awsome, continious with excellent songs that seem to get better and better, untill it moves on to the next one. The best songs on this one are #3 Voyage, #4 Surreal, #5 Forever Young, #6 Purple Cloud, and of course a techno classic #7 Silence by delerium. This cd should be in any trance fan's collection, and if it isn't your depriving yourself, so don't wait any longer and get it. You'll be glad that you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Best, November 17, 2004
I was first introduced to DJ Tiesto a few years back by a friend who had a live recording that he did at Entergy 2000. I'd been a fan of electronic music for years, but Tiesto turned me into the trance-junkie that I am today. I have Magick 7, In Search of Sunrise 3, Nyana, Just Be, In My Memory...and they are all good. But Magick 6 is the best of the best.

It starts off mellow and simple, but quickly builds to a frenzy that you can't help but be carried along with. The first big "WOW!" moment hits about 3:21 on track 3. Then Tiesto keeps the pace and takes you to a bit of a darker place. I'm not usually a big fan of vocals, but the second big "WOW!!" moment hits during track 7, Silence. Then you just melt into a glorious and refreshing decending action that takes you the rest of the way through the set.

5 Stars! Excellent album, and a necessity for any Tiesto fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPERB!!!!, January 14, 2004
This CD by Tiesto is just that.....SUPERB!!!! As soon as it slid into my player, I was hooked. Every track compliments the next and I can't help but listen to Magik, Vol. 6 over and over again. I'm not ejecting this one for a while. With the inclusion of Tiesto's Remix of Delirium's "Silence" the track comes off as redundant, having heard it on so many other CD's by Tiesto and Oakey(my other fav). But since it is a remix by Tiesto that is new to my ears, I can't help to listen to the track the whole way through rather than skip it, because it fits so perfectly in this mix. Simply amazing. But I must admit, I now feel hesitant to purchase any other Tiesto mixes for fear of disappointment that any other Tiesto CD will not live up to the status that Magik, Vol. 6 has made for itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Trance Lover's, July 22, 2002
By
Robert (Miami, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This has got to be one the best trance mix cd's ever recorded. Tiesto is a master of upbeat music and this CD delivers. One track of note is Delerium's "Silence" remixed by Tiesto himself and has got to be an example of trance at it's finest. This CD will take you on a journey and the background sounds of the people will only enhance this journey by letting you believe you are in Amsterdam. Not to be missed!
