After two years of hard use, I love this thing even more now than to begin with. It has features that make it far and away more useful than my previous food processor. It's so satisfying, easy to use and reliable I sometimes use it multiple times a day.

I find it so easy to switch between various functions, its usefulness just continues to grow. Yesterday I made a quiche that required chopping leftover turkey sausage and steamed kale, grating cheese, mixing eggs and cream and chopping herbs. All told it took about 3 minutes to do the various functions and pour the resulting mix in the pie shell (made with the dough blade earlier).

This last summer I processed huge amounts of summer produce which I put up for the winter and am now enjoying all that bounty.

One thing about the Magimix is that the central tubes in the bowls are taller than other food processors so you don't have to worry about leakage. I use it as a mixer regularly, which works great because the large bowl holds a greater amount of liquidy contents than other processors' bowls of equal size. It whips egg whites and cream beautifully with the special blade--better than expected--and manages batters easily with no flour spraying around the kitchen. Since the Magimix is heavy and study, it can handle things that spin unevenly like bread dough. I use it often to make bread and have given my bread machine away.

The various disks are also much easier to attach and remove than my previous processor and do a great job whether on hard parmesan or soft mozzarella. I regularly make juice both with the citrus juicer and the other juicing accessory. All the accessories are practical and easy to use. I really have been able to get rid of several appliances because the Magimix fills so many needs successfully.

The feed tube is not as large as some (2"x3") but because it's smaller it doesn't need the safety mods and catches required by others. I value this because I can add produce continually while the processor is running so I get the job done much faster than if I had to stop and disassemble the lid repeatedly to add more as I did with my previous unit.

All the bowls nest for use so one lid works for all. It's an efficient set up. The more I use it, the more I love it. I am not gentle with it, by any means, but it's tough and always gives me the desired result. I've added extra disks, which fit in the box provided and have bought extra bowls so I don't have to wash them in between my multiple operations as much. There's a website in England that carries extra parts and accessories should you want them. They are reasonably priced and the one I ordered showed up at my door in three days!

All in all, I couldn't be happier with this food processor. The investment was definitely worth it.

Update 1/3/2012
I can't believe another two years have passed since I added this wonderful food processor to my kitchen. Four years now of hard and frequent use and I still completely love it. The website in England doesn't seem to ship to the US anymore, but there's one in CA where parts can be obtained if needed. I haven't needed any though. The Magimix sure came in handy for multiple loaves of pumpkin bread and pies over the holidays in addition to all my usual uses. For a while I wished for the wider tube in the lid of the newer XL models, but then realized I really don't need it. This is a great machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down!, October 11, 2009
This review is from: Magimix Cuisine Systeme 5150
Few are the times when you feel good after spending >$500 on kitchen stuff, but this is one of those. Looks good, and performs even better. Fairly easy to clean, and even the little booklet that comes with it provides classic knowledge in the fine art of French cooking (you can tell it's a direct translation from French; like set oven to 355°F....).
Had it for 2 weeks now, and it feels like I can do things with more confidence compared to the various brands I have had before (name it, and I probably owned it). This is a "no BS" machine that does what it says, period! And quietly, I might add.
This together with my Le Creuset cookware are my favorites in the kitchen right now.

Sorry Amazon, but I ended up buying it from another vendor. Don't know why, really...

3.0 out of 5 stars Robot Coupe what happened to you???, December 26, 2010
This review is from: Magimix Cuisine Systeme 5150: Black
I owned a Cuisinart for nearly 35 yrs. & loved it...every moment of it. It was then manufactured by Robot Coupe before it was bought out by another company abroad. It was heavily used & abused during its years of service with me. But, my husband died, I moved & no longer had the larger family for it. Twenty years later, my new husband wanted to treat me with the NEW & IMPROVED Robot Coupe which I had so highly praised! I used it sparingly & 3 yrs. later, the switch mechanism stopped working & I had exactly the same problem as another reviewer. Try to turn it off & nothing...tried pulsing, turning off & finally, pulled the plug on it!!! This was during the Christmas holiday season when I most needed it. I eventually finished my cookie batter by twisting the cover off or unplugging the Robot Coupe.

You had a great reputation but cheapened it & I am very unhappy about this product & your name. I will follow Amazon's writer/reviewers opinions re these products. You don't appear in Cook's Illustrated reviews or in Consumer Reviews because of your inflated price but Amazon covers all ranges & the readers will get a whiff of your improved French manufacturers' values.

Good luck! I'm waiting for Chef's Catalog's decision re whether to repair or replace it & I will keep your readers apprised of the results.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't believe the hype! Save your money!, June 28, 2009

This review is from: Magimix Cuisine Systeme 5150
I purchased this machine based on the rave reviews and the Robot Coupe reputation. I am an experienced cook and my food processor gets a daily workout. I was bored with my old Cuisinart and wanted a new toy.
Purchased sight unseen, I was a little disappointed when the machine arrived. For the money, the feedtube was ridiculously small and poorly designed--causing much wasted food when slicing or grating. But it was powerful and very adequate for chopping, and I liked having the 3 work bowls...and it looked nice on my counter. But still, worth $500? Probably not.
After 10 months of ownership, I must now say DEFINITELY NOT! Suddenly, the switch mechanism no longer works! I plug the machine in and as soon as the lid is clicked into place, the machine turns on on its own and the OFF switch does not work at all! The only way that it will shut off is by unclicking the lid or pulling the plug. The Pulse button also does not work! A completely useless hunk of plastic junk!
And the best part--it's been nearly impossible to find a Magimix repair center in the US! Certainly nothing closeby. I guess I now have to pack up this heavy machine and pay more $$$ to send it somewhere to be fixed. OR maybe I'll just dust off my 20 year old Cuisinart and put it back into service--it never let me down and I guess I owe it an apology!
Lesson learned!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate machine, April 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
What a great machine ,It easily handles all of my processing needs with ease.
It is quick and powerfull ,I was a little worried about cleaning it ,but it is easy. There are no areas that are difficult to clean.
Very simple machine to use and very professional looking.
My only minor critiscm is the blades it came with were not the ones we needed for our everyday vegetable preparation !We wanted the chipper and larger blade ,So we had to order them from another web store.
Overall an excellent machine that makes me smile every time I use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior to Cuisinart, April 14, 2009

I used a Cuisinart for about 20 years but this product is clearly superior. More sturdy and solid. Everything clicks into place better. More powerful and quieter motor. Less spill. Much better bowls and better bowl system--you can use the small bowl for many jobs. Stable on the counter. Easy to clean. It has a bigger footprint than the Cuiinart and is heavier. Overall easier to use. Is it worth the extra bucks? To me it was--I just use it a lot more than I used the Cuisinart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Food Processor, April 5, 2011
This review is from: Magimix Cuisine Systeme 5150: Black
When I lived in Amsterdam, I had the 4000 series and 5000 series processors (bought from Studio Bazar)(I lived close to there twice). They are very robust, feel like great quality, and do a great job for large jobs. A more budget minded person in USA would probably get a $200 Kitchenaid on sale at a Macy's or Bloomingdale's or something and would be able to do a similar job (except for capacity).

Now I am in the USA, I would like to get another Magimix, but still need to research warranty/support they would have as the brand is not well known here.

Magimix makes good quality products and they are even displayed on many UK/Continental food programs...eg Ready Steady Cook, Gordon Ramsay's UK shows, Simon Rimmer's shows, Tim Lovejoy Something for the Weekend, and I see them all the time on French/Netherlands/German/Irish tv.

Great product. Lot's of accessories. I recommend.
