Too bad you can't give zero stars,

Wow... this program is pure crap. I mean, I'm shocked that a company can put out such a poor product and offer such terrible customer service (only online, don't you DARE try to call them on the number they SUPPLY in their users guide).
Here's all I wanted to do. I'm converting home movie VHS to DVD using a DVD recorder. I want to simply record the entire VHS to DVD without editing, and then, on my computer, edit, create menus, chapters, etc. and burn a final, nicely edited copy. If you're interested in doing that... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS HUNK O' JUNK! First of all, the box clearly states that you can "Capture from camcorders, VHS, TV and CD/DVD"... you can't really capture from DVD, which is what I wanted to do. Sure, there's a workaround to get the files from the DVD into the program, but it's very "clunky". I don't even want to list all of my complaints, but here's one more. A very basic goal of the editing I want to do is to split up scenes into chapters. In other words, once I recorded the full VHS onto DVD, I want to chop it up into chapters that will allow my DVD player to jump to any chapter I choose (like a... DVD!). You more or less can do that here, but you just can't "fine tune" the place of the cut, not by a mile. They do offer some nice transitions that can be put in between scenes, but if you can't cut it exactly where you want to, what's the point? I did find a much better product, the TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author. You can test drive this one with their 30 day trial. If you want to do the VHS to DVD conversion as I am, this one will do the trick. It's not perfect, but compared to the Magix crap... it's GOLD, BABY!
