This review is from: Magna-Tiles 32 piece Pack (Toy)
My son turned 3 in February and received the Magna-Tiles as a Birthday gift. Through trial and error he began to learn the concept of building through magnetic attraction, rather than clicking plastic blocks together. In the beginning, he made simple right angle box-like buildings that any child at the age of 3 could do. As time went by, his creations became more complex. Less than 6 months after his birthday, he's forming highly structured 3-dimensional buildings that would astound any parent, teacher, adult, etc... (I keep asking my husband if he's been playing with the tiles). What's even more inspriring is how my 4 year old nephew, who was diagnosed last year with high functional autism, took to playing with the tiles. When we visited he and his family a few months ago, we brought the tiles along with us. It was thrilling to see how he uses his brain to construct buildings and the satisfaction on his face when he sits back to admire his work.
My son is still interested in playing with his tiles because of their diversity. It's not the same old-thing, day-in and day-out. I can't get enough of watching his pride in his accomplishments. The 32 piece pack is an excellent choice for first time users, and then your little architect can graduate to the 100 piece pack which offers even more opportunities. I'm not sure how accesable the 100 pack is because each time I've researched it, they are out of stock, but I'll also admit I have not spent a lot of time looking...the 32 piece is still working nicely for us. In addition to the creativity of these tiles, it's another fun way to incorporate teaching shapes and colors. What do I not like about the tiles?....the box it came in. It's too flimsy and tears easily, especially when your three year old decides to lauch it across the room. Not a big deal, though. Since the tiles are magnetic, you can easily stack them on top of each other and place them in a gallon-size ziploc bag...making it easier to store (and travel)... They fit easily into a carry-on bag and will aid in occupying your young ones attention on those long flights. Hands down this is a five-star toy.

The price might put some people off, fortunately we received these as a gift! But they are wonderful, sturdy, basically indestructable, and my children still play with them several times a week after owning them for 3 years! We have three sets which they use to make lots of fun things. Even the baby can join in because they are so easy to put together. A great gift idea that will be played with for years to come - great for ages 1 to 13! Every child who comes to our house also falls in love with these blocks.

We received these as a gift and they are great. My son (6) and my daughter (3) love them and are constantly fighting over them. They can each create the most amazing towers, castles, and structures. I think they give them more confidence in their building abilities because the magnets mean that the blocks don't fall down as easily as, say, wooden blocks do.
