My son got these for Christmas and both my boys (2 & 5) love them.

Also, the magnets on the vehicles themselves are not very strong so they fall apart REALLY easily.

For me, the best thing about it is that it is really fun for us to play together.

Our kids LOVE Magna Tiles, but this set was a little disappointing.

Pros:
- You can "build" cars by adding tops, bumpers, etc. to wheel bases

Cons:
- Not all pieces fit on all bases so it becomes a little bit more like a giant set of puzzles (rather than a building toy)
- There are lots of small pieces ("lights" for the police car, etc.) that don't add a ton of play value, but are a pain for a mom to pick up (or to try and help a trantrumming preschooler find).
- There are some pieces that don't seem to fit anywhere
- It isn't really compatible with the regular Magna Tiles sets (yes they will sort of stick together, but not in a nice neat way and you can't use the tiles to build cars on the bases in this set).

If you have a child who likes cars this is a fun idea for a progression from Magna Tiles, but there are some compatibility issues both within and between the sets that I wish the manufacturer had worked out so it would be less frustrating for parents and kids.

If you're choosing between this and a set of regular Magna Tiles, go with the regular set. You'll all have a lot more fun and be able to build some really amazing things together (with fewer tantrums by parents or children).

Our 2.5+ year old twins just got this a few days ago, but already have spent a couple of hours playing with it. They've been very creative about making vehicles and haven't fought over pieces yet, which is really saying something. They love picking out the different parts of the cars, naming them, and putting them together to make a new vehicle. The magnets make it very easy to put together by themselves, so they can play without our help.

I bought this for my son's 3rd birthday. He loves putting things together and taking them apart. This toy looked perfect. I think it would be better for an older child. The pieces are slightly too small for this age. Some of the magnets are strong and hold together well. Some, on the other hand, are a bit flimsy. He played with this toy once and was too frustrated to play with it again. Part of that frustration comes from the fact that you have to look at the pictures on the box to understand where the various pieces should go- it's not the most intuitive toy for a 3-year-old. This might be better for 5 years and up. It's a neat idea for a toy, but if I had it to do all over again, I would not buy it for my son.

This toy is a waste of money. Our grandkids love magna tiles and I bought these vehicles thinking they would be the same quality. Wrong! They are cheap, the magnets do not hold and after a few minutes all of the grandkids had rejected them. Don't waste your money. Just buy real Magna Tiles.

I gave this toy to my 2 yr old grandson for Christmas. He loves to build and take things apart so I thought this would be great for him. It is an excellent toy but not for a 2 yr old. Some of the pieces were just too small for him. He was amazed with the magnetic effect but was not old enough to understand the concept of building these vehicles. However, his 4 yr old brother loved building the cars over and over.
Most of the time I do not pay attention to the ages recommendations on toys but I will in the future.

My sons LOVE Magna Tiles - we have the 100 piece translucent set, the 100 piece opaque set, and the deluxe set (with the special doors, window, wheels, etc.). I thought this would be a neat additon all of those, since it is made by the same company and is labeled as Magna Tiles. However, we were all very disappointed when we discovered that they are not compatible with the regular Magna Tiles. It looks like they use a different kind of magnetic system, because none of the Magna Tiles will stick to the vehicle pieces, and vice versa. They don't even say Magna Tiles on them like the regular ones do. Also, the magnets on the vehicles themselves are not very strong so they fall apart REALLY easily. My son was very frustrated every time he built one and then tried to drive it, it would fall apart. I would not recommend these to anyone. I'd just get 2 sets of the deluxe set instead.

We received our first Magna Tiles from a friend. They have proved to be one of our favorite toys for all ages. Everyone uses them to create something new. My kids (11, 8 and 4) worked together to earn these and they have been another great Magna Tile toy. Some of the parts are smaller than the original Magna Tiles, so if you have kids who still put things in their mouths you may want to use the regular Magna Tiles until they are a bit older.

This is a nice toy for 2-3 year-old. My son enjoyed putting together "model" cars/trucks, and also came up with creative inventions of his own. The product stimulates creativity and interaction between parents and small children. The parts are very sturdy and brightly colored.
