5.0 out of 5 stars First Rate Toy (for all ages) December 28, 2006
This Christmas we bought our second set of Magna-tiles. Their play value has lasted all year, and the expansion of the set was almost as exciting as the first set. My son is disabled, and these are great user-friendly toys with which any child can succeed. They've also survived the dog's inquisitive mouth. We personally like the clear colors, but were tempted to try the opaque tiles (with opening door/window). Last but not least, the tiles foster creativity.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as Magformers December 17, 2011

Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
We got these because my son's preschool teacher recommended them, but then someone else bought him Magformers, which are waaay better. These tend to fall apart more easily and the big problem with them is hard to explain, but here goes: they are straight-edged with 90-degree corners, which (with the tendency to fall apart) makes it difficult to build more complex shapes, like regular polyhedrons. The other day, my son and I made a regular icosohedron out of magformers and it even withstood a little tossing around, and that would never happen with these. Because of the shape, they fit together best at right angles to each other. I would skip these and get magformers instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magna-Tiles Rock!!! May 27, 2007
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My kids first saw these at a friends house a few months ago. Their Mom told me that no matter who comes to visit or how bored the kids are, these always get played with. I love the endless design options and ended up buying the "100" playset along with 4 of the "32" piece playsets for my sons 7th birthday. My kids (also a daughter age 8) have made every structure imaginable and continue to find new, inventive ways to play with these. I love that they add their own ideas on with their Magnetix playsets as well. I can forsee that these will help them with geometry as hands-on models that they can replicate...the uses for learning go on and on...from someone who still has all of our original lego duplo playsets, I can see this lasting indefinitely! Highly recommend this item if and when you can find it. Worth the high price!

a very nice game for kids. magnets are not that strong, so sometimes buildings fall apart prematurely, but overall a nice game.
