4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Value and Very Satisfactory Performance
This is my second tv of this model, and has lasted me almost 1 year as of this month, without any problems. My first set lasted about 8 months and the tuner went out, but when I purchase the set, I also made a purchase of about $20 to extend the warranty time, and I was refunded my purchase price in full. (These sets are replaced and not repaired because it is less...

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent deal if you can compromise
We bought this television because our 12-channel vintage TV and our 13-inch TV/VCR simply were awful for entertaining. Of course 20 inches doesn't impress any of our guests, but at least they can see the picture.

For $88 at Target we simply couldn't pass this up. The picture is fine, though nothing like an LCD. But if you're reading this I doubt you're...

But if you're reading this I doubt you're looking for fabulous quality.

So far it's holding up just fine and I love watching the Food Network on it. One problem: there's no AV hookup in the back of the TV. Odd, I think. There is one on the front so it's perfect for video games. We hooked up our Playstation 2 to it to play movies.

If you buy this you'll simply have to get used to the wires popping out of the front of the TV. Other than that, it was a great deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Value and Very Satisfactory Performance, June 7, 2007

This is my second tv of this model, and has lasted me almost 1 year as of this month, without any problems. My first set lasted about 8 months and the tuner went out, but when I purchase the set, I also made a purchase of about $20 to extend the warranty time, and I was refunded my purchase price in full. (These sets are replaced and not repaired because it is less expensive for the manufacturer.) This set may not be digitally ready for 2009 so you may need to take that into consideration if purchasing. The FCC will provide up to two coupons worth $40 each toward a coverter box if your tuner/and or set is analog. I purchased this tv at a Sears Outlet Store for $105.00. You may also want to check the status of manufacture of this tv currently. Now about the features: You have your choice of voice, personal, music and theater selections when selecting the sound you desire. Since this unit accepts stereo headphones, the choices make a significant difference when listening to DVDs or videocassettes. Picture quality is also impressive. You also have your choice of 3 or 4 picture hues: normal, cool, sports, and one other. With good audio headphones, you really appreciate the audio portion of this tv when watching and listening to, for example, a dvd such as "Fever: the music of Peggy Lee" the musical "Oklahoma" or for more contemeporary viewers, "Good Night and Good Luck", the docudrama about Edward R. Morrow. Be prepared many times to switch back to "voice" or "personal" position as the broadcast bass sound is overwelming on commercials soundtracks and other sound mixes. (Why we have to have so much booming bass is beyond me.) Another feature is just listening to your cds thru you dvd player on this tv model. Very impressive. Picture quality is also very good when playing dvds. All in all, I believe this tv really deserves 4 and 1/2 stars. (By the way, in checking over my review I noticed some overly long running sentences in my critique. Well, at least I caught them before the English teacher did!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Customer Care, July 26, 2007
This review is from: Magnavox 20MS233S 20" TV (Silver) (Electronics)
I purchased this tv new less than 7 months ago, the tv sensor went out and while they were very nice on the phone and sent me a new remote to make sure that wasnt the problem when it was determined that the SENSOR is the problem I was told the part is covered but the labor is not.. Pretty standard. But when I found out that the labor to FIX the TV was more than I paid for it I was fuming. Plus I had to take the TV to the nearest repair center, again pretty standard. What is infuriating to me is that Magnavox does not allow you a way other than calling and then you only get the same pat answers. You cannot file a complaint with this company to let them know of any issues and I am seeing this all over the internet with Phillips/Magnavox. So buyer beware. If you can afford to throw away a couple hundred dollars a year then I guess its an ok buy, but dont expect the tv to last.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Magnavox 20MS233S 20" TV (Silver) (Electronics)
This was my television at school. I used it occasionally to watch TV and movies. Then my cable went out (or so I thought)..I had the cable guy come in and he informed me it wasn't my cable but rather, my tv. When you inserted the cable, the buttons in the front popped out. We tested my cable on another tv, and it wasn't the cable.

This is incredibly cheap tv that is sadly, made cheaply as well. It stopped working after 4 months and I was without a tv.
