This SUX,

Ok, after reading all the other reviews, I expected this to be wound poorly. Unfortunately, I found that you can't get more than a couple hundred feet of usable wire from this CRAP even if you try to unwind it carefully. Count on 50% waste wire untangling messes from the spool. If it WERE wound by hand, I'd expect better. It seems they just spin a spool until a pound of scrap metal is wound on it, and ship it to you. If they just put the tangled mess in a cardboard box without the spool, you might have better luck. I don't understand how you can screw up winding wire on a spool this badly!

The insulative lacquer is clear, and darn near invisible. Its not red, like in the picture, so its difficult to tell exactly where on the wire I have removed insulation.
Both open flame and sandpaper appear to be very effective at lacquer removal. However, the spool appears to be the appropriate size and length, it conducts well, and is indeed magnet wire. Seems like a decent product for a nice low price.

The wire looks like it was wound by hand. I am used to better which I have always been able to buy elsewhere, even Radio Shack gets it right.
The problem is when you are laying down your turns, you cannot get the turns uniform and 100% coverage and there are gaps between the turns. I won't buy again from this mfg. Might be okay for some kind of craft work where you cannot see the wire when you are done.

The wire is fine, nothing wrong there. It's the spool it came on. The top was half broken off the center spool so when i was pulling some wire, it all bunched up into the top center and is now useless. I'm not spending my day untangling this mess.. I shouldn't have to. I want my money back, this is crap! I'm mad! Only because this is the second tangled mess of magnet wire in a row I've had to deal with. (first one i had came from a kit and wasn't on a spool, just a loop with twisty ties) I swear I have no luck with the stuff!
Edit: Ok.. i've cooled off.. The return process was super easy and they were more than happy to replace the wire. I'm happy again!

I bought this 2 spools for my electromagnet projects. As i unroll it to make a coil, the wires always got stuck and jammed up on each other so i had to cut it at least 3 times to fix it. Thats happened on the first spool then the 2nd one was the same thing, got jammed 4 times. i think they rolled this spool by hand and the wires not line up on each othe evenly thats create that jam issue. I would pay little bit more for the one that roll by a machine so i don't have to deal with stuck wire. I never ever buy this again. Be aware !!!

It's magnet wire. Ho hum. Who knows if it's good magnet wire or second rate? What I do know is it's wound badly. At least on the coil I got. I got about 30 feet off of the coil before the wire bound up and that was it. I actually broke the wire trying to pull it off the coil. Luckily I was able to salvage most of it.
I wouldn't buy this product again.

This worked well for my son's science project. I read reviews that complained about the wire getting tangled after the first couple hundred feet. I set the spool on a spindle and didn't have any problem.

I used this wire to make six 500 turn coils for a simple pancake generator I am making and have a lot remaining for future projects. This wire was the perfect size for the job. Any smaller gauge and the wire gets too easy to tangle and much larger does not make as nice of coils.
My only advise is to keep it under tension. If you lose control of it you can have a big mess on your hands. I did not find any issues with how the wire was wound on the spool, but I did find that you had to be very careful or it would tangle up. Still, as I said 32 gauge wire I used for the last generator was enough worse that I was happy with this wire. Never did I have to cut the wire because it was so tangled up. When it did tangle I was always able to save it by calmly untying whatever knots were in it. The wire is brittle. A strong pull and you will break it. If you need any mechanical strength I advise using a larger wire.

I was worried when I read that it might come in a haphazard spool but that wasn't the case. The wire was very well wound and good quality. It was almost too well packed since I couldn't risk scratching the wire, I had a hard time peeling back the many layers of plastic holding the wire in place. But I think that's a good thing.

Enameled copper wire, exactly what's in the description. Haven't had a problem with how it was spooled like other reviews. Regardless, one end of the plastic spool can be broken off and you can undo the entire coil if it get's stuck.
