5.0 out of 5 stars Magnet Therapy, May 4, 2003
This review is from: Magnet Therapy : An Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide (Paperback)
William H. Philpott, M.D., Dwight K. Kalita, Ph.D., and Burton Goldberg teamed up to write Magnet Therapy, a comprehensive guide to using magnets in the prevention and cure of disease.

The authors explain that "electromagnetic energy is an integral part of the human body. It can help produce illness and help bring healing, depending on its type and strength." We are surrounded by electromagnetism--nearly everything produces magnetic fields, including the human body. Magnets have two poles--north, or positive; and south, or negative. Generally, negative magnetic fields are used in healing. Positive can be used only in special instances and under medical supervision.

The authors clearly explain the sources of magnetism and how it works in the body. They then describe, in general, how negative electromagnetic fields are used to stimulate the body's ability to heal.

The bulk of the book is devoted to listing of 35 health conditions, complete with a description of causes and detailed instructions on using magnet therapy to prevent and heal each condition. Health problems discussed include addictions, heart disease, diabetes, children's ailments, and reproductive organ diseases.

"While magnet therapy may just now be gaining more widespread use and popularity in the United States and elsewhere, the use of magnetic energy for healing dates back thousands of years." Magnet Therapy provides all the information readers need to begin using this ancient technique to improve and maintain their health.

I have been using magnets for over 25 years - they work! I have used them to strengthen muscles and reduce pain. Often they get people walking again! People who say magnet use is junk science probably just don't know how to use them. Actually it is easily explained. I ask my patients to remember when they were little and put some dirt on a piece of paper and running a horseshoe magnet under it. Remember all the IRON that moved around? Our red blood cells have IRON in the middle - magnets help with circulation, circulation helps improve healing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Magnet Therapy Works, May 16, 2005
This review is from: Magnet Therapy : An Alternative Medicine Definitive Guide (Paperback)
What the authors say in regards to the differences of the two poles of each and every magnet, is based on the research of Albert Roy Davis and Walter C. Rawls. Davis was the first scientist in the world to discover that magnetism consists of two separate and distinct energies, not one.

Some of the information is not completely accurate in this book. It's a decent book, but I'd recommend buying a book by Davis and Rawls.
