I bought this compass for my daughter who loves the movie "Golden Compass". It has been very educational as a toy although it isn't meant to be a toy. She carries it around with her everywhere we go. Durable and reliant as a hiking tool if you are someone who gets lost easily in the woods. It is small so it can fit in pockets. It also has a link for keeping it on a keychain. The needle is wobbly so be careful with it or it'll lose it's whole balance of direction. My daughter drops hers all the time and the needle has to be reset. I'd suggest not dropping this compass. Other than that it is a sufficant hiking tool.

Im pretty happy with the compass thus far. Everything seems to be in working order, however, it did take me 15 minutes to figure out how to open the darn thing. I think some instructions may be a bit handy. Maybe a page long print out of how to orient yourself with a compass would be nice too. Otherwise, Im pleased with the product.

I got tis item from 3 days later after I ordered it. It was fast. The compass works nicely and relaibly.

Good size. Got it wet and the corrosion started. Smells like metal real strong. No instructions on how to read the dials. Had to figure it out. It's now in the trash.
