Customer Reviews

These seem to be working fine.

My only other complaint is that there was no documentation at all included with the parts.

While a little bigger than the previous sensor, this one works perfectly.

Works perfectly, unfortunately just not what I needed it for. This reed switch is Normal Open, meaning that the circuit is complete when the magnet is near.

If you plan to use this to activate a light when a door opens, look for a Normal Closed switch. Two NC options I found are:

For Prime account holders, try the Reed Switch and Magnet Assembly, though this is only rated for 0.5A at 12VDC.

For a higher amperage rating, check out AMSECO POTTER AMS38BW which is rated for 3A at 12VDC.

This product is very well made for the $$. The first week I used them they seamed to work well. After that so far 4 of 9 have failed in the on position. Remove the magnet the switch stays closed. I used them on my doors for an alarm system. So if you open the 4 doors that failed the alarm does not go off.
I have 200ma of current in my circuit which these switches must not be able to handle or they are failing after maybe 100 cycles on my doors that are used often.
I do like the design of the cover that hides the wires so I ordered new reed switches from Newark electronics made in the US! I will disassemble the assembly and install the new reed switches.
I would not recommend these to a friend! This is the first product I have ever purchased from amazon that was not a good product. I believe these switches to only be good for 100 ma or less. Amazon needs to get better spec sheets on line with the electric parts they are starting to sell.
Hope this helps someone.

This item is for NORMALLY OPEN. Meaning if you try to hook it up to a closet light, the closet will light up when the door is closed and the light will turn off when the closet door is open. The reverse what I want. The description does not say that! I hope they take a return or exchange.

Shipped promptly, but one of the two switches was poorly made. The screw on which the leads are attached simply spun on its nut and could not be removed, making that switch useless. The other one worked properly. My only other complaint is that there was no documentation at all included with the parts. Otherwise, the one that worked was fine.

i purchased 9 of these for a home addition that i did, the first problem i had is that these are huge they barely fit on the window frames, the second issue is that the screws were you tighten the alarm wire strip out very easily half of the 9 i recieved were stripped out of the box. the third issue is that they dont come with 2 sided tape if you screw these to the window you risk breaking the gas seal on vinyl, and aluminum windows. all in all i do not recommend these spend the money and get better sensors!

We have an existing alarm sensor, which is based on magnetic contact like these. I searched around all the local and chain hardware stores and couldn't find a replacement, and was even told don't bother looking by several store personnel. I found these on Amazon and thought they would make a good replacement for the one that broke off our sliding door. It worked perfectly as a replacement. I imagine they will work with any alarm that works based on magnetic contact.

My only slight complaint was the shipping time and notifications. For this particular product it did take longer than I expected. However, that being said, Amazon did estimate the time just about right at about 2-3 weeks at the time, but I didn't believe it would take that long, but it did.

Hooked this up to my closet door to trigger the lights automatically. Wanted a hinge switch, but putting one of those in seemed like a lot more work.
