When I am writing this review, I have just read the other 2 reviews...one good and one bad, and I can say that both are somehow right: the magnets are weak(but I feel they are just enough strong for my need, just to hold the pieces when I move around the house or bed), the pieces size is good for the board size and I like it as my study chessboard.
The knight could look a bit better, and I somehow dislike the white colour of the white pieces, but curently it is my favourite chess set(and I have more than 5), so if you want a study magnetic wooden folding chess set I would recomend it: 4 stars

I bought this product 3 weeks ago. First of all the magnet is week and does not hold the pieces on the board when tilted. Secondly there is no cover to protect the board which also folds as a box. It can get scratches easily. It will not be useful if you are traveling since the magnet is not powerful enough to hold the pieces in place. The pieces move when the board is shaken lightly. It is as good as a non magnetic board.

This set is an atractive one, for the price, but some of the magnets are simply not strong enough to hold the chessmen in place. This occurred with 3 of the 4 rooks, 2 pawns, 1 knight, and 1 queen. Not a great travel set for this reason, but its charm is in the compact and attractive design and well-proportioned chessmen. Not the sturdiest board out there, but it does not seem at all flimsy. I will replace the magnets in the 7 men that do not stay put and will enjoy playing on the road soon enough, I'm sure.
