4.0 out of 5 stars
nice toy, good price, March 12, 2007
This review is from: Kit's Magnetic Mini World (American Girls Collection Sidelines) (Hardcover)
First of all, lest anyone be surprised, this is NOT a book, it is a TOY, regardless of the catagory Amazon has it in. For $9.95 you get a two-sided magnetic playboard about 8" high and 18" wide opened up. It folds in thirds, ending up about the size of an American girl paperback book. For Kit's World, one side of the playboard is her attic bedroom and the other is her classroom. There are three sheets of magnetic dolls and accesories to punch out. You get one Ruthie and three Kits (school outfit, everyday outfit, and spring outfit). Each of these is an individual doll, not just an outfit to stick over a separate doll in underwear (like a traditional paper doll). So there are really four dolls, just multiple Kits (the product description says 2 dolls, four outfits). There are then a number of small magnetic room accessories (globe, chair, camera, flag, books, etc.)
It sells on Amazon for the same price as you'd pay on AG's website but without the shipping charges (super saver discount) and without sales tax (for some).
I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 because despite its cuteness I'm not sure if this is a toy my kids will really be all that interested in. I have not given it to them yet. I think I would have preferred to have a doll who you could overlay outfits onto. We'll see.
