Product Description

Editorial Review

Magnets spur imagination in this building set from leading arts and crafts maker RoseArt. Fun and sharply designed, the set contains a series of brightly colored triangles, squares, and bars equipped with opposite polarity magnets at the tips. Small steel balls enable you to lock the pieces tightly together and assemble them into nearly innumerable arrangements. (RoseArt promises more than 500 possibilities, and provides a booklet suggesting some, including a miniature Eiffel Tower.) The set has 100 pieces and offers wonderful creative opportunities for kids. It comes in a sturdy, handsome, metal carrying case. --Andy Boynton

5.0 out of 5 stars I love them!, November 22, 2004

This review is from: Magnetix 100 Count Case (Toy)
My 5 year old is hooked. We bought a little pack to try out at first...he played with them for 2 days nonstop! After school, he goes straight to them. He is building more advanced things each time. The case has enough room to store other sets as well. Storage and holds the interest....how can you beat that!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, but one problem...keep away from computers!!!, December 3, 2005

This review is from: Magnetix 100 Count Case (Toy)
My son, who was 6 years old at the time, received a small set of these two years ago. They only seemed to hold his interest for a few days, but he is now 8 and in the last few months, he has become very interested in them and is wanting another set so he can build bigger things. My son has not always been the biggest "creator" even though he likes to build (i.e. he likes to build legos and knex, but will only build the models that are pictured in the directions, not something of his own "design") He does seem to be more creative however, with the Magnetix. And he likes to combine them with other things that are metal when he builds, which is pretty cool.

We did have one very big issue with these Magnetix however... they are VERY STRONG magnets and if one of them gets around a computer screen... it's toast! We had one of the older computer screens (not the flat, LCD type) and my son was holding one of the magnetix rods near the screen (about 4-6 inches away). It was really strange, but all of a sudden, it looked like the image on the screen was somehow magnetically drawn out of the screen and toward the magnet. After this brief (1-2 second) occurence.. there was a dark spot permanently left on the computer screen, where no image is visible at all. Probably any computer-savy person would say "duh" about this. But I had no idea that a kid's magnetic toy could ruin a computer screen.. so beware...keep the magnetix away from your computer!! I don't know if this would be true for a television as well? I'm certainly not willing to try!!
