Fabulous debut from Magni!,
By Mel P (Brooklyn, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Magni (MP3 Download)
I'd been waiting awhile to see what Magni had up his sleeve with his original music and I am very happy to say that he does not disappoint! Of course, he can do no wrong with his covers of Creep and The Dolphin's Cry, but this album is so much more than that. It is much like the man himself was on Rock Star: Supernova, starting off quietly but getting under your skin, and then knocking you out with powerful vocals and songs. The first part is mellow and often beautiful, particularly the simple but passionate ballad, See You Tonight, and it just keeps on building from there, giving us the fierce Addicted and other rockers later on. As if that isn't enough, Magni is at his finest with the soaring vocals on his gorgeous song, Tear Us Apart. This is a very intimate and heart-on-the-sleeve album, and is a great English and solo debut by a very talented singer and musician.

Wow! This was well worth the wait! Magni, the rocker from Iceland, was great on the reality tv show Rockstar Supernova in the summer of 2006 and he does not dissappoint with his first CD. The vocals are fantastic and the songwriting superb. The only problem is that the CD had to end. Hopefully we'll being seing more of Magni in the US, not just the recorded version, but live and on tour. I hope Iceland is ready to share him with the world!

Magnificent Magni,
This review is from: Magni (MP3 Download)
Magni made his US debut on the Rockstar Supernova show in the summer of '06 and now he has released his self titled album for all of us to enjoy. Magni's love of music, combined with his unbelievable talent draw you in immediately. No need to listen to it over and over to love it...you will love it after the first run through! There aren't any "skip over" tracks; each one is Magnificent! Magni's ballads will move you, sometimes to tears, and then he will rock you with his "Let Me in the Dark", "Addicted" and "Alone." We want more of this musician here in the States and the rest of the world. Iceland shouldn't be the only place where he is a household word...he should belong to all of us. Get this album!

I'm so glad he's not the front man for Supernova, because he is far more talented than all of them together. This is the kind of cd that stays in the player. I hope to hear a lot more from him in the future.

Beautiful and stunning solo accomplishment-this man has the most beautiful emotive voice! Tear Us Apart is the most beautiful love song,If I Promised You The World has the sexiest vocals, Creep is better than Radiohead's version, Mistake and Alone are my absolute favs!, and World Alone sounds so sad and mystical. Best download purchase I've made all year!

Impressive!,

Magni may be best known for his stint on Rockstar:Supernova, but in this solo album, he brings us music that should appear to a much wider audience than the Supernova-show material would - and I hope that wider audience has a chance to be introduced to Magni's musical charms. While we know he can rock out when he wants to, this album is much more intimate and the songs are, for the most part, fairly stripped down - generally using little more than guitar with a bit of piano or keyboards and maybe some drums - and the effect is that we get to hear just what an amazing voice Magni has. He ranges from soft and tender to powerful, and imbues the songs with an emotional depth that is often lost in the vocal gymnastics of modern pop/rock singers. This one is definitely worth a listen! I just wish it came as an actual, physical CD, but I'll take it any (legal) way I can get it, eh? :)

The CD to get!,

Magni's first solo CD is well worth the wait. Rather then the rocker we saw on RSSN, Magni let's us into his soul, with a full length CD of original songs that tell us a story of love lost and love found. This CD showcases his beautiful voice and talent on the guitar. Don't miss it!
