This book is going pass-the-parcel around the family. We all love it. It brings the Victorian world to life and leaves you hungry for more, wanting to study the period and to use this book as a point of reference. Handing over Mrs Tennant and Wolf Hall to my mother at Easter I hadn't expected the lengthy calls we have had since ... all about Mrs Tennant, her world, the people who populated it, the quality of writing, the insights. We all look forward to David's next book; perhaps someone he has already touched upon in the magnificent 'Magnificent Mrs Tennant.'

....so I was stunned to find how much I enjoyed The Magnificent Mrs. Tennant. Who would have thought that History could be so much fun??
